Description First, we saw a world where Captain America replaced Superman, leading the Justice League of America, and toppling the alien menace known as Brainiac...

Then, we saw a world where Superman was raised in a world filled with Avengers, Mutants, and the supreme being known as Galactus...

Now, we go to yet another world...

The world of Spider-Man: The Darkest Night...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
9 Years ago, a man named Joe Chill stood outside a downown Gotham City movie theater. In his hand was a revolver, and two of the bullets inside the gun were destined to help give birth to one of the greatest heroes of all time. Of course, Chill didn't know that. Chill was a desperate, petty thug, looking to make a quick buck through an act of senseless violence. Yet, in this universe, things do not go according to plan...
In this universe, Thomas and Martha Wayne are not at the movies because they could not drag their timid 8 year old son away from his junior chemisty set to enjoy a night at the movies. The Waynes love their son, without question, but somehow, the boy was always something of a shut-in, enjoying being indoors, by himself, more then being out, making friends. Thomas constantly joked about it to his wife that if they would have named the child Bruce like he wanted to, the boy's destiny might have been soundly different, but instead, the Wayne's named the boy after Marth looked into his eyes and knew exactly what she wanted to call him.
Peter. Peter Wayne.
As Peter grew up, hs fascination with science continued to grow well into his teens. As his parents were out 'cleaning up Gotham' by attending charity events and giving all they could, Peter hit the books, paying close attention to his studies and eventually gained an almost genius level of scientific knowledge.
At home, everything was great for the Waynes...more or less. Peter loved his parents, without question, ut having them both out of the house so much became rather lonely for Peter. However, he wasn't TOO alone. Alfred Pennyworth was the Wayne's loyal butler for decades, looking after Peter to the point where he almost became a second father to him. Peter never felt too comfortable called Alfred by his first name, so eventually, Peter began to call him by the pet name "Uncle Al", a name that Alfred would be far too proper and stubborn to admit that he loves.
One day, after getting into a fight with a local bully at Gotham High, while tending to his wounds, Alfred told Peter the concept of "Power and Responsibility", and how Peter's own parents use to the concept that if you have the ability to help others, you should use that power responsibly. At the time, Peter wasn't quite sure what it had to do with him (never viewing himself as the "powerful" type), but somehow "Uncle Al's" words stuck close to Peter.
Eventually, on a field trip, Peter was lucky enough to be able to see an experiment being conducted by one of his scientific heroes, Dr. Robert Langstrom. For years, Langstrom has been experimenting with animal DNA, looking to find nature's power as a means to give ordinary humans various life-saving abilities, such as tissue cell regeneration, or abilities to make the ordinary man reach his physical peek. However, of the various genetically altered creatures Langstrom had provided, no one noticed that a single creature has escaped it's container...
A spider.
As Peter, in the back of the crowd, watched in amazement as Langstrom continued his lecture, the spider slowly crawled down on a lone web and landed on his hand. With a violent bite, Peter could only hold his hand in pain as he looked down and watched the spider scurry away. The effects were almost immediate. Feeling as if he was going to pass out, Peter stumbled out of the auditorium and walked blindly into the middle of a street. Just as a car was about to hit him, Peter felt a sudden surge of fear course through his body, causing him to immediatly leap out of the way. As the dizzy spell began to wear off, Peter realized that he had leapt onto the side of a near by building...and was somehow sticking to the walls by just his hands and feet. Amazed, he began to crawl up the wall until his reached the rooftop. Somehow, the spider had given Peter its own abilities, making him some type of...spider man.
When he returned home, Peter tried to tell his parents what had happened, but they wouldn't listen, too busy preparing for a charity part being held at Wayne Manor. Not even Uncle Al could listen, being far too preoccupied with setting up the party. Forlorned, Peter decided to go to his 'secret hiding spot'. When he was a kid, Peter fell through an old well located behind the Manor. It was deep. So deep that Thomas Wayne had to personally use a rope to climb down the three story 'cave' to get Peter back. Unknown to his parents, Peter later discovered a crawlspace that led from the mansion to the cave that had been in the mansion since it was built. Peter had turned the cave into his own get away spot, already having his computer, TV, and science equipment waiting for him. It was there that Peter discovered other abilities the spider had given him. Strength. Heightened speed. Agility. Reflexes. He didn't seem to gain the ability to make webbing, but an hour later, Peter had made a sketch of a pair of wrist-worn 'web shooters' that he had hoped to make later.
Desperate to get away from another boring charity party, Peter suddenly spotted a commercial for a Gotham City wrestling match where the current champion, Bane, issued a challenge to anyone who could last three minutes in the ring with him. It was time to test his abilties and see what real power he had. Fashioning an poorly made red and blue costume out of his father's old workout clothing, Peter told his parents that he was going out to a late-night study session. Thomas and Martha both seemed a little saddened by Peter not being there for the party, but let him go., even going to the point where Martha said goodbye to Peter with her own pet-name for him. "Go get em', Tiger."
It would be the last time Peter would ever see his parents...
The wrestling match was no-contest. Bane was big, but too full of himself. When 'Spiderman' made his debut and charged into the match, he found himself pinning Bane in about 2 minutes. Backstage, Peter demanded to get his winnings for beating Bane (his first real paycheck since he lived off his family's billions), but the booker wouldn't pay, claiming that Peter didn't go 3 full minutes. As Peter walked away, he suddenly heard an arguement in the booker's office before seeing a man with a bag of money running out, followed by a security officer. Peter stepped to the side, letting the thief get away as the officer scolded Peter. Still annoyed, Peter simply said that it wasn't his problem, so why should he get involved.
Three hours later, Peter's world crumbled...
Peter returned to the mansion and found police everywhere. In the party room itself, obviously shocked party goers were speaking to the police as Peter struggled through the Police until he spotted two forms of bodies hidden under a sheet in the middle of the room. Peter felt a hand on his shoulder. It was the heartbroken Alfred looking back at him. When Alfred told Peter the news, he broke down...
About one hour ago, someone snuck into the party with a gun. He eventually got close enough to Thomas and Martha before shooting them both in the chest. Before anyone could react, the gunman escaped the mansion. However, as Peter was trying to make sense as to what he just heard, he overheard that the gunman had been tracked down to a local chemical treatment plant. He knew that Gotham's finest wouldn't be fast enough...but that he very well could be. As Alfred tried to stop him, Peter sped out of the mansion and simply began to run toward, jump, and crawl to the treatment plant.
Police were everywhere. The gunman stood in the catwalk of he plant, high above dangerous pools of chemicals, almost taunting the police. However, overhead, one lone figure was able to get inside. The re-masked 'spiderman'.
"Murderer..."
Peter stepped forward and looked on in shock. The gunman...he was the same thief from the wrestling match. The one he let escape earlier. Had Peter stepped forward and stopped him, both of his parents would be alive. It's....his fault that they are dead.
The gunman pointed his weapon at Peter who immediatly knocked it out of his hand. Not to be outdown, he followed it by trying to land a punch on Peter, but due to a sudden dodge, the man fell over the side of the railing, hanging above the bubbling chemicals. For a moment, Peter hesitated. He felt that this was his redemption. This man...the man he could have stopped earlier...killed his parents, and now, he has the ability to stop him once and for all. But then, he realizes that its wrong. Peter isn't a killer. He can't let anyone die, not even this monster. Finally, Peter springs forward...but it's too late. The thief loses his grip and falls into the pool of chemicals, screaming in terror until the sounds vanish, nothing seeming to be left of the man who killed Thomas and Martha Wayne...
Devistated at letting a man die, Peter leaps away just as one of the GCPD agents swears he see's a figure leaping away as agents finally storm into the plant. His name is Jim Gordon, Police Commissioner...
Back at Wayne Manor, as the officers, party goers, and bodies have been removed from the now empty manor, Alfred hears something coming from behind the manor's grandfather clock. A violent crashing. Curious, Alfred pushes the clock aside and finds the crawlspace that leads to Peter's cave. Eventually, Alfred makes his way through and finds Peter's hideaway, as Peter himself his taking his anger out on all his former prozed possessions. Screams of rage and tears in his eyes, Peter vents his anger and his frustration until Alfred comes to his aid. That's when Peter tells Alfred the truth. All of it. The spier bite. The powers. Letting the thief escape. The muderer and thief being one in the same, and how he let him die. Alfred hugs Peter and explains to him that the events are tragic, but he can't be blamed for the events. The man killed his parents, then accidently killed himself. Still, Peter can't help but feel the guilt and anger in his heart as Alfred finally has a look around the cave and has an idea.
Alfred feels that since Peter has the powers, its time for him to use them responsibly. He could use his newly inherited fortune to create gadgets (specifically, the 'web-shooters' Peter described) and use tools to rid crime in Gotham, so that what happened to the Waynes can never happen to anyone else. As Alfred suggests this, Peter lifts his head and nods, agreeing to the idea.
"I do have one manor suggestion for you, sir..."
"Yes, Uncle Al?"
"Please, do change that rubbish costume of yours. I believe we can do much better..."
Now, clad in a red and black uniform with silver, piercing eyes. Clad with a utility belt and customized web shooters. Clad with Wayne-Tech kevlar underam webbing for mild gliding, Peter Wayne now patrols Gotham City with the aid of Alfred, watching closely from a Wayne-Tech computer placed in the newly dubbed 'Spider-Nest'. However, with the mask over his face, Peter Wayne no longer exists.
Now, there is only Spider-Man; the Dark Knight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As the police finally leave the plant, no sign of the Wayne Murderer, a sole body pours out into the nearby lake for the plant. For a moment, there is nothing, but finally, the body begins to stir. The man who had taken the lives of Marth and Thomas Wayne has been given a second chance, but now, his life is forever changed. He looks down into the water and see's the scars he has to bare. White powdered skin. Green stained hair. Bulging yellow eyes. Red ruby lips. As he looks on, his mental psychie finally cracks as he begins to...smile...

"Hee hee hee...Heh heh heh...ha ha...Ha ha Ha...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAA HAAA HAAAAA HAAAAAAA HAAAAAAA!!!!"

End of Part 1...

((Big thanks to my best pal Kaio for the awesome ending idea))
