The mysterious ruler of the Afterlife, Death is obsessed with balance, symmetry, and order, and enforces rules over the living and dead...

1-Resurrection or cheating death is forbidden unless authorized or absolutely necessary.

2-The only Spirits who are allowed to go to the Living Plane are Angels and Reapers.

3-Normal Spirits who manage to return to the Living Plane turn into Ghosts, Souls that aren't reaped turn into Yokai. If either is banished to the Afterlife, they have to stay there.

4-Living mortals are not allowed in the Afterlife.

5-With the exception of certain individuals, those who want a reincarnation must win Death's Game.

6-Those who violate the Laws of Death will be hunted down by Death's Reapers, or Death himself...

Death's forces let things like Yokai slide, as it's natural in the Multiverse, if uncommon. Morrigan assimilating people into Makai isn't natural to the Multiverse, and it keeps people from dying, so that puts her in conflict with Death. Death tends to overthink things, and reacts to chaos or asymmetry rather...insanely. Don't bring up the asymmetrical hairlines, he'll lose it.

He also appears before Sora when he uses the Power of Waking, warning him that if he continues using it, it'll cost him...
