Description
So this one is different, since it's not really one character we're talking about but a whole cast of characters unto itself. The Space Amazons were the result of me playing around with the idea of a race of warrior women. At the time I was also planning out a couple of comics where Aoi, in her first solo appearance, was abducted and mind controlled by aliens and I thought it'd be fun to make these new characters alien women. Xira was the first one I ever made, and that was before I decided to name all the others after goddesses, and I used her design as a base for the others, which I would edit to make each look more unique. The Amazons started out as antagonists who would brainwash and turn captives into Amazons after abducting them, but these days I've moved away from the Space Amazons being villains. Lately I characterize the Amazons as a nomadic warrior sisterhood with a code of honor and a love for strength and battle. One day I think I'll actually make individual bios for them, but for now here's the collective bio. Enjoy!History:While many across the Universe know the Space Amazons as an all female race of warriors that travel the stars, some are not aware that it wasn't always that way. While the original name of their species has been lost to time, long ago the Space Amazons lived on their home planet without conflict, their people even used to have males as well. The people of their world had never known war, or violence, or suffering, they had never even advanced far enough to travel past their homeworld. They were just a simple people who knew only peace and pacifism. That peace came to an end though when the Bedar, a violent reptilian race, invaded the planet and rounded up the entire population! Bedar saw them as a species of primitives that could become useful, and so the Bedar enslaved them. The males were made to work cruel and grueling labor, they were seen as expendable and would be sent to dangerous work cites and often would be killed while working. The females however we abused even more by the Bedar slavers, herded like cattle and used to breed Bedar children. The Bedar used illegal gene altering machines that were meant to make it so the females could only produce Bedar children, but this would backfire and make it so the females could only produce females of their own species. Unfortunately, this caused a vast decrease in the male population and eventually the males became completely extinct. Not wanting to lose workers, the Bedar decided to have the women double up on their duties and made them take on the harsh labor the men once had, and since they could only give birth to females the Bedar saw them as even more expendable. This torture would go on for many years, all the while the females, now referred to as Amazons, became stronger than the Bedar could have imagined. Finally the Amazons couldn't take anymore and one known as Eos rallied the other Amazons to use their vast strength against the slavers! Together Eos and the Amazons rebelled against the Bedar and were led to freedom! They stole a massive ship that allowed them to escape the Bedar controlled planet, this ship would become known as the Amazon Mothership in time. Eos became the Space Amazon's first Queen and empowered by their rebellion, learned to value physical strength and adopt the way of the warrior. Since none of the Amazons of this generation knew what or where their homeworld was, the Space Amazons became nomads, traveling the galaxies in search of battle, adventure, and prosperity to their sisterhood.
Culture/Sociology: The Space Amazons believe in physical strength and a warrior's honor above all else. They are known by many beings as being the strongest warriors in the universe, only fools are known to ever try to fight them physically. Combat and weapon trainging is taught to young Amazons at an early age as well as an intense workout regimen. Once cadets are able to land a single hit upon their drill instructor, they are able to move up the ranks to become warriors that fight and defend the sisterhood. The Queen of the Amazons is known to be the strongest of them all, and takes on all challengers to the throne. If an Amazon defeats the Queen in one of these challenges, that Amazon then becomes the next Queen, though none have seemed to ever surpass the Eos bloodline, with the current Queen being the granddaughter of Eos, Athena. The Amazons enjoy a good battle and often bring back trophies from their victories (such as armor, a damaged weapon, or a fang from a creature). They often step in to help the weak who are being terrorized by stronger beings. Because of the effects of gene altering, Space Amazons can mate with any species, but they can only give birth to female Amazons. The Amazons believe that they have one true mate out there somewhere and once they find the individual they believe to be the one true mate, they will love and adore that individual till their dying breath. The Amazons have many methods to be courted, though the most common and old fashion way is to impress an Amazon via feats of straighten, this can sometimes amount to defeating an Amazon through combat. Though there have been cases where showing strategy, honor, and courage can win the warrior woman's heart as well. The Amazons do marry whoever proves themselves to be their one true mate through a ritual called "The Bonding Ceremony", wherein the two beings will wear robes fashioned after the clothing of the Amazons ancestors, the last piece of culture from the life before, with a tassel hanging off one arm of the robe. The two will then swear undying love to each other and then tie the tassels of the robes together, symbolizing their very souls bonding to each other forever. This ceremony is not taken lightly and an Amazon will only bond with those they are certain are their one true mate. The Amazons also believe in a being they only call "The Goddess" that watches over them and blesses them with prosperity and victory. You will never find a more dependable and tougher warrior than a Space Amazon, having one on your side can often be the difference between victory and defeat!

Do the amazons still have access to the Bedar's tech? That could be used as a justification for their run as villains, and an excuse to keep using them as such, like there's a splinter faction interested in conquering rather than the space amazons nomadic lifestyle

Technically yes they do, in their first appearance they did have the gene altering technology the Bedar had to turn people into Amazons, though I've kind of retired the idea of the main group of Amazons performing those acts. Other than that, the Amazon Mothership was actually a Bedar craft that Eos and her generation stole when they rebelled, though they've upgraded and improved the ship over the years.
It's funny you mention the idea of a rogue faction of Amazons, I haven't tried that yet but I have been considering the idea for some time now. At the moment the only Amazon separated from the sisterhood is Freyja who's been on Earth with the Valiant Guild cast of characters. The idea of a more violent and destructive band of Amazons though is a really interesting idea and I'll try to work on that idea sometime, who knows that faction may have the now abandoned gene altering equipment.

I'd name the rogue amazons leader Hera. Considering Hera was known in greek myth for being kind of a cunt, granted, most of the greek pantheon are but still.
Also I'm glad i could give you an idea.

Maybe, though I think I made a Hera already somewhere down the line. I'd have to double check that though. Regardless it is a good idea and I hope to try something with that soon.
