Description
Gift for MistaMishMash who came out of nowhere with some very nice comments not only on one of my artworks and style, but about my whole gallery. I’ve never had my collection of works be called varied or refreshing, and I thought I could diversify my gallery a little more by drawing up something for them in return.
My take on their zombie character Mr. Hat. Really dug his colour palette and design.
Drawn on ~June 15, 2016

-- gah. Not gonna lie; I've been sitting here, thinking of something appropriate to say for a good while now.
For a start, you have incredible artistic flexibility; I can see you've taken on not only Hat's design, but also the attitude, angles and lines that frequent my gallery. It's like you've looked through my art to the core of what I love, re-imagined it in your own way, and then expressed it in your own way. Please tell me if I'm wrong here; I hate to be presumptuous, but if that is what you've done, you have an excellent talent, not only artistically, but also analytically.
Of course, I have no choice but to love this. You have actually taken all of the things I enjoy most in an art piece and shoved them all into one amazing bundle. It's amazing, seriously; especially being aware of the changes you've made to allow this to happen. The rougher lineart, the sharp shading, the liberal use of black and shadow; even the shape of the eyes. Gaah, I dunno what to do, over here. xD Gah, I gotta stop myself from rambling-- sorry for the wall of text. Just, thank you. Seventeen bushels of thanks, with a sprig of amaze with each one. I love experimentation so much, and you've seriously inspired me so much to keep on shooting in that direction; 100%, man. Thank you.
Importantly, you've definitely taught me something very significant about the community here. You had absolutely no obligation to gift me this, and yet you did; thus why it is a gift, I suppose. But that's what makes it so special, to me. Just gonna let you know that I absolutely and 100% will be returning the favour to other deviants; this is such a gorgeous idea, and I can't believe it hadn't occurred to me before! Gonna refrain the ramble on this point too, but this is ridiculously significant to me, also.
Oh, and uh, in regards to art programs you can use, perhaps try giving Black Ink a squiz, as you can't try Sai. There is a trial version for 2 hours and if you would like any help with knowing the shortcuts, please let me know, as they're what made me fall in love with the program. xD

No no, trust me, my secret browsing through your art and even alot of your older works of him and your other characters can't escape your radar of an eye. I do that alot when it comes to gift making, simply because I like taking parts of the artist that show through in their style and adding it to the characters they've created. Those characters are a part of them just like their style is, and I can't help but look at an artist's character and style and throw it into the mix with my art.
But to be quite fair, I have a taste for sharp angles and moody characters, so I've dabbled in the field before simply because of my admiration for it. But the sketchiness of lines, the crosses at the edges, and the angularity of the piece were all pushed to the max because I adored those aspects of your style. It amazes me how you colour and line, and even if I can grasp a little bit of that I feel just a bit more accomplished.
You're really welcome, for all of what you listed. It's a pleasure to give back <33
It's an old habit of mine. Even if that person never new me or just stopped by to say something quick and nice, I want to reward that. Nowadays when things are getting busier and everyone rushes around in their own world, reaching out and bothering to leave comments that are constructive and more than just 2 words really means alot. You not only did that for my art and style, but actually looked at a few pieces in my gallery and commented on that too. Your small action really did alot, and I'd be even more honored to see you pay my little act of kindness forward.
Oooooooh it sounds really interesting! I'll give it a looksie and if I think it'll work for me I'll be sure to tap your shoulder and ask for advice so I don't waist that 2 hour trial period.

Duude; it's so awesome that you can do that! Must make drawing things for other artists real interesting too, what with the change of style! And yet you still manage to keep your own twists and quirks on everything you do, even while staying so dynamic, which is 100%, pretty difficult to do, I'd imagine.
Aah, sure thing! Gosh, thankyou very much; that means a lot coming from someone with such a versatile range of styles as you. Like, damn. D:
Oh, I agree completely. It can be so easy to forget that there is a person on the other side of the screen sometimes. Admittedly, that is pretty self-indulgent of me too; I always like seeing what kinda regions an artist's jam is; and I don't think I've seen someone with as wide a variety as yours before! If anything, I should be thanking you for the breath of fresh air; it's so easy to get stuck in old habits, some days. D: I would recommend it. Though it is still in development, meaning that right now there is no blur tool, and there is a limit on the amount of layers you can have (8, I believe?). I wish I could recommend something more grounded, but Black Ink and Sai are all I've used with any degree of competency, so. xD

It's quite an interesting challenge, but frankly keeping elements of my own style is more of an accident than anything. It comes naturally to sort of absorb things that I really like about other people's art, and I find a lot of fun in doing it. It's a great way to improve and sometimes elements of other people's style end up sticking and it's a really easy way to dabble in finding what works for you.
Aw well I might have a range of styles, but when it comes to building up character features with colour rather than using line first, I'm entirely lost. So I really admire that you have that skill.
Well I'm rather sentimental, so it usually won't slip my mind ehe~ Well be self indulgent all you want then, it was a really nice surprise to see you mention aspects of my gallery, and I'm sure any other artist you've done that for is just as honored to receive a comment like that. Browsing can sometimes be just a single work and leaving, so the fact that you went through my gallery (and still are, I see), even if it was for personal reasons, is really something special and deserved a reward.
Well I've got quite the list from others so far, but this one would definitely be worth looking into, especially if there might be plans to extend the program further.

Oh; I think it's lovely to see your own take on these things, though. ^^ I can certainly see how trying out so many different styles and techniques would help you improve though; I only wish I could be so flexible! xD
Gwah, shucks, thanks. ^^" It is probably just because I draw so many faces, though. So many. xD xD
That definitely makes you pretty special, then; I find it too easy to forget, myself. D: Honestly, I think I'd panic if I thought about it too much. xD I'm a little antisocial in that respect, I suppose. I just try to leave the kinds of comments I know I appreciate, is all. ^^ And it's all stuff that I think anywho, so it's not too much more effort to type it out, especially now I have the time to do so.
It really depends on your technique for drawing, I believe? Personally, I found it quite fun to work within the limitations of not having some tools (it taught me to blend colours manually on a digital canvas, for example), buut I definitely get that it's not everyone's cup of tea. xD
