Description And so… I have finally completed a reference sheet for him~ I can now die happy

Anywho, I’m completely in love with him as most of you know. But when I looked online there’s really no good pictures of him. SO I went back and watched Earthsea about 10 times to make sure I got every detail of his body and basically memorized all scenes containing Hare XD I felt this wouldn’t be complete without some information so you guys can get to know the guy better. The information has a number before it which corresponds to the numbered pose/picture above. My favorite one to draw was number 2 :3

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS ON THE MOVIE “GEDO SENKI – TALES FROM EARTHSEA”

#1: We Can Still Have a Bit of Fun...
This is Hare when he's first introduced to us in the movie. He wears a helmet with his visor up, a blue tunic and blue pair of pants, a chest piece of armour, and a cloak that goes around all of his head (so you can only see his face) and drops down to become a cape. He also has a sword hanging at his side, but keeps it in his sheath. During the whole movie he never takes it out. Only once does he pull out a weapon and that's a small dagger which is kept somewhere behind the sword. He wears regular black boots with no detail whatsoever.

#2: Whistle While You Work
The second time Hare appears is when he runs into Arren who is sound asleep on steps leading down to the water's edge. Hare kicks Arren in the stomach before bending down with the visor of his helmet lowered and he flicks it up while inspecting that he's run into the same boy from before. You'll also notice that in this scene, Hare is wearing a pair of white/cream gloves, presumably because he was riding his "ox" through Hortown (which he is seen doing later on in the movie). After that, Hare is seen wearing his gloves for the rest of the movie, even while drinking and eating in Lord Cob's castle with the rest of his group.

#3: If I Ever Did That, I Think I'd Have A Heart Attack
Lord Cob, being the evil wizard he is, has very harsh punishments. Unfortunately, Hare has some bad news to report and ends up paying the price. Lord Cob uses a summoning spell (or so Sparrowhawk calls it) and squeezes poor Hare's heart!! Hare ends up clutching his chest and falling to his knees begging Lord Cob for mercy and telling him that it was a wizard who interfered. A wizard...with a scar on his face... So, Lord Cob stops after realizing it is Sparrowhawk and Hare is left breathing and panting on the floor for pretty much the rest of that scene before getting up to do Lord Cob's bidding once more and stumbling out the door where one of his fellow slave traders catches him and helps him along. (I like to call it the "Swoon Moment" XD)

#4: Dat Slave
Hare really does love his job as a slave trader. In the movie, he even gives them nicknames. (even if they'd escaped or were never fully captured) Arren becomes "Little Boy" or "Prince." Therru becomes "Princess" and Tenar is "The Wizard's Woman." He loves commanding his own henchmen to "take care of" the slaves. Hare constantly repeats "Take Him" whenever he wants his guards to fight Arren. A big part of his job is going after escaped slaves or whoever Lord Cob tells him to get. Revenge is one of the things he takes most pleasure in doing and loves kicking people when they're down. But watch it Hare, don't get too attached to your slaves...

#5: Kurosaki You Witch, What Have You Done To Me?!
When I originally watched the movie for the first time, I instantly knew he was my favorite character from the moment he was introduced. Unfortunately, the internet doesn't do wonders in pronouncing names. And since I hadn't heard his name called in the entire movie, I went back and re-watched all the parts he had appeared in. Turns out, it's only said two times in the whole thing. Very disappointing. But to remind myself of his name, I drew him with rabbit ears. Because his name is Hare, pronounced like hare, the English synonym for rabbit. Plus, in the Japanese version (under the movie's name of Gedo Senki) he's called Usagi by a very feminine sounding Lord Cob. And my name is Usagi, which means rabbit as well, so it was pretty straight forward. Though the Japanese version was not the one that worked it's wonders on making me fall in love with him. His laugh is actually very terrible in that version, the English one sounds much better for an evil man, even if he is a bit of a coward. Cheech Marin's voice utterly completes him and definitely works alot better with the way he looks. (The Japanese voice didn't fit with the diversity of character ethnics in the movie)

Now, all the info on him was done out of my memory, which is pretty good when it comes to Hare. XD The info should help build on whatever information is already out on him on Wikipedia and whatnot. Enjoy!!

The colors and numbers don’t pertain to anything you may need, it’s a personal color chart for him.

This is Studio Ghibli's version of Hare, the slave trader. Specifically how Goro Miyazaki pictures him.

Done with Copics.

Aaaaaw, that's sweet, but Hare isn't my character XD He's from a movie (Tales from Earthsea by Studio Ghibli) which is based of the Earthsea book series by Ursula LeGuin. I just made a reference sheet of him because no body bothers to take screenshots of his whole body and such. -_- So go ahead and draw him XD It's not my place to tell you you can't or anything. Just make sure to (C) him to Ursula LeGuin. I throw in that this is the Studio Ghibli version of how he looks because I don't think Miss LeGuin was very happy with some aspects of the movie. Sorry for the long response, but I just don't want to take credit for designing him because he isn't my character XD
