Description Randommmmmm... kind of a comparison between Wheatley's first hello and the one he gives you during 'that part'.

I don't even know why I drew this. But then it turned into a lighting experiment! Enjoy!

Wheatley design is mine, influenced by ~gabsters109

Very nice lighting, and I love the way you "humanized" Wheatley. I Always imagined him to look like a Simon Peg with glasses, so bravo on that

Thanks!  I dunno who Simon Peg is, though.  He's a bit older-looking than I'd intended.

Ah man, Simon Peg is great! Mission impossible 4, Scotty from the new Star Trek movies, Shawn of the dead; He is a great comedy actor in my opinion. So I naturally saw him as Wheatley. And how old did you intend him to be?

I figure Wheatley is about... 18-20 ish, because as far as I can tell, GLaDOS must be about 25 ish.

From your interpretation of Wheatley, or from this picture?

I know he sounds older than 20, but I base my answer on my tentative Portal timeline.  See, the AI signs first begin to appear in Aperture in the 80s (I forget the year they give, but it might be 1983), so that's when I figure GLaDOS was activated.  I estimate it would have taken them another couple of years to build the cores and whatever, and then I believe it's 1989 when GLaDOS was supposed to have killed everyone.  Then I believe she had a few years by herself, before Chell became her test subject.  I have a reason for thinking that, but I can't remember what it is right now.  Though if you look at GLaDOS's dialogue in Lab Rat and Portal, it's pretty different, so she must have had some time to go crazy in there somewhere.

Long story short, I know they have old-sounding voices, but given the timeline I've hashed out (which of course may be entirely wrong), they can't be that old.  I figure that GLaDOS is 30 at most and Wheatley 25, max.

You're a genius, anyone ever told you that?

I'm actually below genius.  And even if I were, anyone could figure this out with enough thought and if they pay attention.

If that actually meant "please stop giving long answers to simple questions", okay.

No I didn't mean that! Ugh, fine. To quote the ultimate of all Geniuses, Sherlock Holmes....

"I am bound to say that in all the accounts which you have been so good as to give of my own small achievements you have habitually underrated your own abilities. It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but you are a conductor of light. Some people without possessing genius have a remarkable power of stimulating it. I confess, my dear fellow, that I am very much in your debt."

In other words, one can be born a genius, but one can also be made. You've written how many stories that I am just now reading? Stories that are deep enough to bury the most simple yet the most necessary morals in life?

Ok that's not coming out right.... Just, you are a genius.

I wasn't digging.  I was covering my bases.  I get paranoid that my explanations are far too long and I bother people who don't want to read them.  I'm not saying you don't want to read them.  I was merely acknowledging that you might not and I would understand if you felt that way.

I've written about 65 stories, since you asked, and no offense, but if I've buried the morals and you can't find them, I've failed as a writer.  Overall, I think I get my point across.  But thank you

Oh man, I remember playing this part with my brother and we had to pause it we were laughing so hard! The writing in that game was so great, like Monty Python for the video game age.

I never watched Monty Python, I should probably get on that.

Both of them are hilarious, even after having played them both several times. That's both the mark of great writing and great voice acting.
