What's wrong with 'unoriginal'??? Do you honestly suppose that 'original' has meaning anymore? I mean, four thousand years ago "There is nothing new under the sun" was already an old, played-out cliche. It's not gotten any better with time.
On the other hand, I do agree that 90% of gijinka's (or anything else) are crap... I just think that iammemyself could bring something good to the concept.

Well it get old and kind of tiring to see the same drawing every post. Its like reposting on tumblr. I would be fine with gijankas if they just draw the normal characters more often.

I take it very far, in fan fiction, at least.Β Drawing's a bit harder.Β Although I have a gijinka pic planned.Β I can give you the explanation for it, but it's pretty long.

You're partly right.Β A gijinka is a Japanese word that refers to a humanisation of an object.
First off, people look for people who are like themselves, and are very successful in doing so.Β GLaDOS and Wheatley are both very similar in a lot of ways, from their denial of responsibility to their narrowmindedness.Β Second, they are the two most advanced AI ever created.Β How could they settle for anything less than the best?Β Third, they have achieved something very, very rare: they have both been in the other's shoes.Β Wheatley knows how it's like to be in GLaDOS's position, the itch and the cores and everything else.Β GLaDOS, during her stint as potatOS, knows how it feels to be Wheatley, who is mostly powerless: he has all these ideas and a lot of potential, but there are far too many barriers preventing him from achieving anything, like GLaDOS found out when she was stripped of her databases and her processors.Β This kind of mutual understanding is rare, and I doubt they would throw it away if they didn't have a good reason.Β They can connect on a deeper level, because they can each understand the other to a very deep level.

Ahhhh yes, anthropomorphism.Β I did use to refer to this stuff as anthro, before I learned the word gijinka.
It depends.Β It's not a hundred percent clear what personality type they have; that's just my argument based on my perception that GLaDOS is highly neurotic and secondly extraverted, with Wheatley being highly extraverted and secondly neurotic.
Lol no.Β I have about 150 hours in Portal and 100 hours in Portal 2, but they're all daytime hours.Β It takes me about an hour and a half to write three pages, though, and writing is where I have to do the majority of my thinking.Β I want it all to make infallible sense, so I spend a lot of my free time thinking about how this stuff works.
