Description
In an op-ed published by the New York Times in June, Manning states that the concerns which motivated her to release classified information have not been resolved. Once again, Manning speaks the hard truth on the bullshit plaguing this country. The government and military are unforgivably corrupt!Read Manning's full statement here... www.chelseamanning.org/feature…

But thats just makes these good people bad people you know. Doing wrong things by good people means that they make themself bad people. Inavertedly.
Politics and wars for the greater good? - Oh, yes, esp. their own good, like their own money and empires.

War is not a child’s game. Terrible things happen that is why it is called War and not the Olympics. Study the history of war and you will find that terrible things have been done by the best people for the greatest good.

I made a statement in response to the post. If you see my statement as the start of an argument you need to study the history of war.
More importantly the history of the great atrocities done during war for the greater good.
If you do please don't study just recent history. Early civilizations did far great atrocities during war for the greater good than people do today.
Also make sure you study these atrocities from both perspectives of the war, because what one side sees as an atrocity the other side sees as a necessary action for the greater good.
I can give examples if you'd like...

As for ancient history, there was no such thing as "greater good" back then, it was "greater good of my tribe"; and atrocities against other tribes don't contradict that.
We can see examples of this tribal morality today. We call them ethnic cleansings. And we abhor them.
So no, "Hey, war is hell anyway" does not vindicates war crimes.

Ok, so you obviously didn't do any research and are just making a gut reaction reply. So here are some great atrocities that were done for the greater good through history(this is not a complete list just a few things)...
In 1206, when Genghis Khan started his rule over the largest land empire in history, he did it by killing every man, woman and child in the first village exect one man which he gave enough food and water so that this man could make it the next village and tell them what Genghis Khan had done and that he was on his way to the that town. The Khan Empire ruled for over 150 years and brought peace to some of the most violent parts of the world.
This same kind of act was done over and over through out history to bring battling warlords under one government for the greater good of the people. It happened in Japan, China, India, the roman empire, ancient Greece, Egypt, For a few examples.
In more modern history the United States drop 2 atomic bombs on Japan to end World War 2 and to save the lives of all those people who would have died if the US had to invade Japan. Which would have been far more than the people that died from the bombs and radiation.
War arocities that aren't done for the greater good such as the village killings during the veitnam war or the use of chemical weapons during any war are truely artocities and war crimes.
'Ethnic Clensing' is a trick statement because it throws alot of things under a generic misleading title.
