Amelia had just returned from her mission. The image of a .308 Winchester round going right into a young octoling’s head was still fresh in her mind. She sat down on a bench in spec ops gear room, remaining motionless and silent the entire time.Ivan notices her sitting there and sits down next to her.
Ivan: Amelia, why are you still here?
Amelia: …
Ivan: is everything alright comrade? You aren’t as positive and energetic as you usually are. Did something happen during your mission?
Tears once again began to form in Amelia’s eyes.
Amelia: h-hey Ivan, you got any extra vodka laying around I can have?
Ivan: whoa! Clearly something’s wrong, cuz I have never seen you drink at all, and now all of a sudden you’re asking me for a bottle? What happened?
Tears began to flow down Amelia’s face
Amelia: I-I, I didn’t want to do it… b-but I had no choice…
Ivan: you didn’t want to do what? What are you talking about?
Amelia: he was only a kid! Why… why did they! Why didn’t he…
More tears began to flow down her face.
Ivan: wait, so what you’re trying to say is…
Amelia nods
Ivan: oh… look, comrade… I’m really sorry you had to experience that, but you couldn’t have known they would do that.
Amelia: *still sobbing*
Ivan: look Amelia, I understand. You didn’t want to kill him, but what’s done is done, and you just have to love on.
Amelia crying slowly began to die down
Ivan: listen to me comrade, you can’t let this one experience push you down. We’ve already been through a lot since we first joined the Spec Ops
Amelia stopped crying and looked at Ivan
Amelia: w-what are you talking about?
Ivan: Amelia. you, me, the rest of the team, we’ve all been through a lot recently. We even lost one Yu-jin during the rescue mission, and she was standing right next to you when it happened. Sure we were all devastated, but stop you or any of us from continuing to fight?
Amelia: no…
Ivan: exactly. Cmon Amelia, we’re members of the Inkopolis Spec Ops. We don’t let anything bring us down.
Amelia: yea, *sniff* I guess you’re right. Thanks Ivan
She hugs him
Ivan: no problem comrade. Come on, let’s get back to the barracks.
Amelia: alright
Ivan: hey, if your mind decides to remind you of today, or if you’re feeling down in general, feel free to talk to me again. Ok comrade?
Amelia smiles
“Sure thing Ivan”
