Quest 1 redux! Fleshed out Lapis’ story and character a bit :D

The former boatswain Navy Goldstone had tragically perished in battle just days ago, and the ship was already plunging into chaos. Navy had only one mate training under her at the time: a kindergarten Lapis Lazuli. But he had not nearly received enough of the necessary training. But the situation was dire, and desperate times call for desperate measures...

As a last resort, the Lapis Lazuli was raised to the position. For someone who was lacking much of the sufficient training, he was an extraordinary replacement, and balance was restored within days. But whether it be from the lack of time to properly grieve and recover or the insatiable demands of his new position—or an unsavory combination of the two—his demeanor underwent a tremendous change. Before he always appeared to be a bright and keen individual, a little disconnected, sure, but overall relatively pleasant. Within a week, the difference was astonishing: He seemed to exist with a sort of vicious frustration, ever dissatisfied with others’ work and his own. He became incredibly jumpy and obsessive, even more so than earlier, and he refused to stop working. No, not for a moment. Not again.

In his eyes, the title of boatswain would forever be an undeserved position.
