HERE IS MY CURRENT PROGRESS ON VIC AND CREW!Falchion Beta will get Purple Hair! Jade Knight will soon get his goggles (and his hair)! Oh, and Beta will get clothes, soon. You guys won't get to see his bare chest forever, y'know.
I'm particularly happy with what I have going on so far. Also, since I stink at drawing 3/4 view faces facing the right side of a page, I flipped Jade Knight's face temporarily. I'll flip him back to normal once I'm happy. I mean, I can draw faces like that normally anyways, but since I'm still not 100% comfortable with my tablet skills, I flipped his face.
I'm going to design the other two ships off their... wait for it... Yu-Gi-Oh Card Designs! *smacks head* I had no idea Jade Knight, Falchion Beta, AND Lord British made it to YGO as well. Konami, just give us more Gradius, dammit! Seriously!
Anyways, the card pictures SHOULD be the same as their Gradius Gaiden designs, but please correct me if I'm wrong. It's hard to find good pictures of any Gradius ship that ISN'T Vic Viper, to be honest. And Vic Viper changes appearance a lot, anyways. >__>;;;
ALSO, PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY ANATOMY, HERE. If there's anything that looks weird, please tell me! Now! Before I give Beta clothes!!!! *smacks self again*

I've been a fan of Gradius for a couple years now. My interest was rekindled when I found the first of the Yugioh cards, then saw more and more of them released. I have all the Core type boss ships, the Vic Viper [mis-titled "Gradius"], the Jade Knight, Blue Thunder T-45, Flint Lock, and Jade Knight. Soon the Falchion Beta will be coming out, and eventually, the Lord British! I also have a little gashapon kit with an Option on top of my TV, and I'm trying to scratch-build an Autobot with a modified Vic Viper alt-mode.

Glad you love Vic, hahaha. Originally, I thought, "Shonen hero!" and then later, my art style applied itself. Lawls.
Will they be coming out with Alpinia from Solar Assault someday? And I think they already have the flaming Salamander dragon, too... I think, that is. :/
I'm currently working on this drawing, and I'm also contemplating making a big paper Vic Viper hat and two Options to stick on my wrists. Then, I can lazily cosplay a spaceship while screaming "SPEED UP!" and waving my arms around fanatically.
Seriously, nobody cosplays shmups. If only because most "characters" are spaceships. But I see people walking around as Gundams, and think, "Why is there no spaceship love?"
I also want to look like a complete nutcase. Like, really nutty. HA!

I have a whole Gradius deck. I call it "Horizontal Armada," named after an OC Remix of the pre-level theme. The plastic card sleeves are metallic blue, and their deck box is white. I recently retooled it into a counter-swarm deck, mostly to take on a friend's Morphtronic monsters. I also threw in Nano Breaker, another Konami game monster.
Oh, I've always loved the brave, lockjaw-grin shonen hero sort 
-Giggles- Yes, that would be spazz-tastic XD If I could cosplay the Vic Viper... I think I'd do it either as the aforementioned Sentai type, or an anime style medieval knight in stylized plate armour. Gleaming white with blue accents, a stylized "G" on a shield with orange LED's, etc.

I do that to scare the hell out of my friends, to be honest.
Personally I prefer it antiheroes were, well, ANTI-FREAKING HEROES. Unlike the un-experienced, yet exuberant hero with a SENSE OF JUSTICE! and a go-to plan... wait, what "plan?!"... for action, the Anti-hero is his opposite.
Almost villainous, or just plain morally ambiguous, I like them blunt, sarcastic, skilled, smart, and more likely to preserve oneself through sheer badassery. While he MAY have a good heart inside, my preferred anti-hero is "dark" not because he's whiny, but because he's seen "enough" and is taking action to complement his views. The anti-heroes I like are rare, though. I can stand a traumatic past, as long as they don't drudge it up too often, in that horrid way I've seen it done before...
