I've spent the past month working on Case 2 of Ruby Rose - Ace Attorney and now it's finally here! Case 2 is Turnabout Betrayal and this trial features Blake as the defence and Weiss as the prosecution! You may need to use Firefox or Google Chrome, apparently Internet explorer doesn't work very well with the game.
Please enjoy the game and feel free to leave comments and feedback to improve it!
Here's the link!

Ruby Rose Ace Attorney Case 2 - Turnabout Betrayal
A month after her first case, Ruby Rose finds herself rather bored at the office. She doesn't seem to be getting many exciting cases. She's handed a folder containing an old case, one that put her two friends Blake Belladona and Weiss Schnee against each other.
-----------
Ruby Rose Ace Attorney is a crossover between the Ace Attorney video game series and the RWBY webseries. RWBY characters have been adapted to fit into the world of Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney. Some characters may have been modified in the crossover. Players will play as Ruby Rose, a newbie defense attorney and defend her clients.
For those that don't know how to play Ace Attorney games, it's essentially like a visual novel. You keep progressing through dialogue until you reach a point where you must contradict witness testimony using evidence. You will point out something they are lying about. That's pretty much the formula for how you play.

I found out about these games from a friend, and while I never got the chance to play an Ace Attorney game, this was a hell of a lot of fun. It ran just like a few plays of Ace Attorney that I saw, and I was hardly disappointed, especially since it made me have to think pretty damn hard.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing the next case and how Blake's involvement with this case will be expounded upon. Hope you had/are having a nice break.

I didn't realize how long these cases have been completed. Guess I really let that fly over my head, better late than never I suppose.
I started the first case quite a while back, before Dual Destinies released if I remember correctly(Which is always questionable for me). I never finished it due to time constraints and for getting stuck at one point. I guess after all this time I have learned a thing or two from all of the Ace Attorney games, because today I reloaded the game up at the start and pushed through it, immediately followed with the second one.
I really must applaud you for your creativity and skill in making this crossover, it feels life I'm experiencing a FanFiction story first-hand. The soundtrack selection was nicely picked for both cases, and the custom sprites give the game a lot of depth.
Thank you for the wonderful story, and the massive inspiration to my own creativity. I can't wait for the next case, so until then, Stay Gold.

I keep getting stuck at a certain part. The screen isn't showing the arrow to continue. How do I fix it?

Yikes that story, wow. As with the last one I had to cheat a little bit to get through it but the story was great. S**t got really real really quickly.

Great job with Case 2. It was interesting to see that you have us play as Wiess. That took me by surprise. I have to ask, how come there were where either Blake or Wiess says 'Objection' 'Hold It' or 'Take That', it's quiet. I mean, I know that you used Franzy for Wiess in Case 1, but I felt that there was a mix-up of which female voice clip you use for the characters.

Thanks!
And originally I had Franziska's voice for Weiss in Case 1. However she only has the OBJECTION sound, so I decided to give her voice to Blake instead. I ended up giving Weiss the voice of Athena Cykes from Dual Destinies, so that she would have access to a HOLD IT, OBJECTION and TAKE THAT voice clip since you would be playing as her after all. Blake only gets the normal shouting sound when she uses a TAKE THAT or HOLD IT.

Your welcome.
Oh okay. I was just curious, since I know that there was Mia's voice clips left.

I really enjoyed playing through the case, but the ending was so emotional if left me with, in kind of a good way, conflicting emotions. I do hope that in the future installments, if they were to come, you'd expand on this episode because it's hard to believe that Blake would do something like that. The part after the break was quite fishy: in just half an hour and she managed to get search warrant for the certain person's apartment, get police get the evidence, and get it transported to her. But then again there's the certain lady from Blake's side who does hint at something that will be a turnabout.
I really liked how you portrayed the personalities of all the RWBY characters.

This case was made to be expanded upon. Further cases will answer these questions.
Also the whole half hour was just me giving a random number. It should in theory be a larger number to accommodate getting the search warrant, police going in, etc. I just didn't want to make it like a 2 hour break. I was just hoping people would suspend disbelief for a moment there.
And thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed my portrayal of them all!

Glad you enjoyed it! (Except the feeling sorry part)
Thanks for the typo check! I fixed all of them, I don't know if it's just my English but I couldn't quite tell what was wrong with the Weiss image.
Can you point out what might be wrong because when I read it seems okay.

Well done once again!
I really enjoyed the story of this case, hope it's a sign of things to come! Everything ran pretty smooth, I only having trouble on Adam's testimony (I realized it was my misreading and things flying over my head moreso then the case) and the only technical bugs were some animations didn't show up near the end, though it seemed to be because I had 'instant text' on again, so you can probably chalk that up to how I play it.
Everything else went very nicely! I loved the surprises you pulled it was a great case to play! Nicely done! I wait for more.

Thanks!
If you were having trouble I might be force feeding too much information, so it's something I will think about too. It's never good if I'm overwhelming people with too much information at once. And yeah technical bugs I wish I knew more about since I've only barely used the engine compared to some people. I personally haven't tried instant text yet!
Glad you enjoyed the ride!

Not a problem!
Hmm, possibly, I think it was mostly human error this time around but I guess you can never be too careful. It was the one where they pointed out 'it seemed pretty solid but there has to be something' so I just figured it was made slightly more difficult on purpose. I did find the answer, I just had to think a little more. The technical things didn't take much away at all, just a not I felt I should share, don't worry about it too much!
Glad you made it!

Hmm that might be one of the Cross examinations where Weiss is just being vague about needing to contradict something, without me giving it away too much. So yeah, had to make people think! Don't want it to be too easy.
I still wish I could fix those technical things but at least it didn't hurt the experience too much!
Making these cases is kind of overwhelming though. A month of all my free time after work dedicated to this so now I need a break!

Thats what I figured! It isn't terribly uncommon for them to do that in the canon ace attorney games so, all said and done, nothing too annoying and troublesome. And exactly! Ruins the fun a bit if it's a walk in the park, a little trouble here and there makes it interesting.
Who knows, maybe it's easier to fix then we think!
I would expect so! A break is a nice thing to have. Always take things at your own pace, I say, so no rush on either spectrum. Especially with a project like this, must take up a lot of time and effort, so down days, weeks, etc. are good to have!

I think the harder cases did that all the time whereas earlier cases would usually drop hints. For the most part I dropped hints most of the time this time since I was afraid it would be too hard. Still trying to gauge difficulty levels and such!
Yeah! I'll keep an eye out for them glitches, I know I had some of my own when using chrome. Sometimes people would just never animate properly.
I had planned this case to be done before the next Smash Bros game would come out since I spent eons of time in every Smash game. I figured that would be a good break time until I get that creative spark again!

Practice makes perfect! I think difficultys been rather well done so far, so what you're doing it working.
Hmm, I use chrome too, so the browser just might not want to listen at times. I don't really understand how these things work so I'll power through.
Heh, yeah, I'm certainly not getting anything done when sm4sh comes out, personal projects or otherwise. I think it's safe to assume they'll be breaks for a good chuck of things during the release window...

Alright, thanks for the feedback on the difficulty!
There's a reason they recommend Firefox, I just wish I understood why. It's probably pretty complicated and there's a lot that has to be factored in but the cool thing is the person who made the engine seems to update quite a bit so there's definetely someone working on fixing things at least.
Yep Smash 4 is going to be my life for quite sometime! It'll be a pretty long break.
