Description
I made this for a Blender Weekend Challenge (the first time I ever won anythingMade in Blender Cycles and rendered with 1000 samples. Afterwards I did some post processing in the compositor and Gimp.

I love this.
The light shining through really looks inviting - and I love how perfectly you made the enter-key open like an actual door.

Great rendering piece; I really love the metaphor behind it.Β The dust in the scene also makes it look realistic.

I honestly am not too big of a fan of pictures like these, but I have to sayΒ this one is highlyΒ impressive.
It's very original and simple all at the same time. I really love everything about this. I really wanna know what lies beyond this piece

Very cool! It caught my eye and I was intrigued. I had never thought of the keyboard like that before

I have a question because I never used Blender: when you say you rendered it with 1000 samples, what do you mean exactly?
Anyway, it's very beautiful, it looks so real and I like the stairs the bring you down in the light

Itβs the number of light rays computed for each pixel. Too few and you get a grainy-looking image. But the larger the number, the longer it takes to render.
Cycles is a wonderful renderer. But it can be quite slow sometimes.

Is this ray-tracing? I mean, some ray-tracing technique that Blender uses?

Yes. Cycles is a ray-traced renderer.

1000 samples indicates that the computer "calculated" (it's a bit more complex I think) the color of each pixel 1000 times. The higher the number of samples, the less noisy the image is.

So that's why it's called the enter key. Wonderful concept. All of the worlds knowledge awaits in there. Great work.

This is a very interesting piece. The promise of opportunities, for knowledge. Like the gateway to the internet, or to the world of writing that open up to you and bid you to explore or create!Β
I'm reading way too much into this aren't I? -.-
Anyway, that's what makes art great!

I most sincerely love this!
This probably has something to do with me connecting my Laptop to art, since
I usually paint digitally but every time I press enter after typing in my Password it is Kind of like opening a door to another worldΒ

I never thought of that, but know that you say that, I feel the same way. I only use my laptop for making art anyway. Thank you

This one really caught my eye, it's a really ingenious and novel idea. I like the dust you've rendered where the light source is shining, it makes the render feel more like a photograph. The text used for the keys doesn't really feel right, I think it would have been even better if you chose a sans-serif font like what the majority of keyboards use. But otherwise, I really like this idea and it's well executed, great stuff!

Thanks and yeah that font doesn't really fit. I only chose it to make the keyboard look more fantasy like.
