Description My entry for the Apophysis weekly theme challenge (non-black backgrounds). I cannot produce art to order, but as I have a suitable candidate waiting in the wings, then I'm delighted to submit this one.

White background, 2 transforms, 3 variations (linear, spherical and fan). Rendered with flam3 2.7b1 using default density estimation settings - this is the reason for the 'selective focus' look, it is NOT the application of any post-effects. Had to leave the picture full size as too much detail was lost on reduction.

I see the aftermath of some terrible carnage in a sewer-like tunnel - what do YOU see?

Thanks! I hadn't previously considered it as textured but you're quite right - almost a look of canvas about it

Gorgeous font title first of all.... secondly, I can't stop peering into the "eye" at the top of the image where the thickest pool of blood lay. This, to me, is the visualization of jack the ripper in the back streets where he brutally destroyed those women. At first glance it also contains finger print DNA.. here again, my crime scene fantasy mind coming out. I can switch views though with this one and also see a beautiful amber combined with molton lava that has no blood at all. Depends what I feel like seeing. Beauty and the beast

Glad you like the font, took quite a while to get it just right - generated from a built-in script in the GIMP using one of the built-in gradients (there happened to be one that was just right, based on German flag colours). I agree that it looks different in thumbnail view, but I first saw it in full, so that was the direction I went in. And I think what you see as fingerprints, I saw as micro-organisms

Fantastic, looks like rusty metal or an oil painting A full view shows all that lovely detail

Thanks Yes, I couldn't bring myself to submit a reduction as it lost too much detail. Always appreciate those who take time to get the full view

Thanks! A few changes since you last used Apo, perhaps? Now on version 2.03b. I find it takes longer now to get a finished work I'm happy with (the perfectionism of the precious artist ), so I don't have time to learn new programs like UF - I was beginning to get used to ChaosPro, but I seem to have specialised in Apo now. Something about tugging those triangles, seems like shaping new life...

Yep.. probably. I try to practise more in UF sooo.. i dont have time for Apo.. and friends of mine force me to back to drawing.. and want to do more vector-like works.. busy busy busy

Wow, this is brilliant, it looks like the devil and a monster have had a really vicious battle What I really love about this is that it looks 'wet' and fresh...eeek, does that sound too gruesome !!
Anyway, it's fantastic, and definitely a

You need to offload some testorerone!

I see a landscape shot at an angle, with a red sun/moon, buildings or a mountain in the middle distance, and a passer-by in the foreground.

I like the colours, despite the title!

Thanks Always interesting to hear what others see in a somewhat abstract piece. I cut my literary teeth on horror - guess this is its legacy

where do you get flam3 2.7b1?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IDeviant In reply to xIsoMetrix [2005-11-19 11:21:04 +0000 UTC]

You can get the latest (2.7b2) here . This release handles the new variations in Apo 2.03b (maybe some other changes, but I'm not sure). If you want the b1 particularly, I could e-mail it to you. Impressive gallery, btw, hope you find time to create more

weirdly I see an insect flying into a light first look and then a Dr Who like monster breathing fire at the bottom- long day I guess finally a tempestuous seascape with the sun blasing down
seriously really eye catching/ brilliant- as always- I do really like your work
well done you

Well, I can almost see something of what you do on the small view, but not the large... I suppose differences can arise due to first acquaintance: this was one that surprised me pleasantly as I keep the quality low during the creation process due to my slow PC, so I didn't see this properly till it was rendered full size. But I always enjoy hearing what others see - you certainly have an original one
