SSL-3 is ladder 3's support unit. SSL does, Ty large storage compartments of the Tactical Support Unit truck hold specialized tools and equipment not usually carried by other firefighters, such as: special chainsaws for underwater use, powerful electric generators, portable pontoon boats, a telescoping light tower (Special Response Units - FDNY Smart ). SSL does help ladder 3 a bit when on calls and is cross staffed with one firefighter from ladder 3. SSL-3 is nicknamed "The Lucky Three" (What is your Fire Company's (SAYING or SLOGAN?) - Firehouse Forums - Firefighting Discussion <- website. person quote -> Fire Eater 07 . he quoted that and i changed it to 3). nicknamed the lucky 3 and the number 3 on the cab door and the compartment door in the back got painted to be in Irish colors, and "the lucky three"
