Description
WAIT GUYS HOW DO YOU ADD THAT NICE CUSTOM THUMBNAIL PIC??Whew finally finished.
Well this is the tutorial that I said I'll do all the way back in January. It covers basically how I color the face and hair.
Well I put a lot of work and thought into this, and hopefully those who asked will find it useful. If you are a beginner, you might want to read this as well:[link]
It's the tutorial that I first learned how to CG from
For those of you read it, I'm curious as to what you think so please leave a comment if its not too much trouble.
I feel that I haven't explained some of the steps very clearly so if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them here.

This tutorial was AMAZINGLY helpful. I actually used Corel Painter Essentials 3 while following it, but your demonstration of where shadows fall on the face and eyes let me finally correct many of the mistakes I've been making in my previous attempts to draw faces. And, your explanation of ambient and secondary lightsources should also help me when I work on drawing more body structures. Thank you so much for this tutorial!

This tutorial helped explain both some CG and some basic coloring principles for me - especially the ambient light (even though that wasn't what the tutorial was about!)
Your use of the liquify tool is revolutionary, I'll definately use it on my next picture!

This would help me out a lot. I often struggle to add shading and highlights to my art. I do a decent job, but it's with a lot of unnecessary work. Line by, line. Pixel by pixel. That's how I do it. I know, it's very old-school.
I have yet to fully utilize layers in PhotoShop to help with the shading. I might look into it a little further.
Thank you for the tutorial.

I love you for making this. I have always been so irritated with my drawings, because I tend to slant my characters to the right and not realize it til I invert the drawing. That liquify trick makes me liable to worship you. Thank you!

This tutorial was really helpful, especially the section on skin shading. I attempted something with it, and the skin actually looked decent, when skin shading was my weakest point before. Thank you!
I tried the ambient light effect with a dull brown-ish color because that was the color of the scenery I was using. I think it came out okay, and blue or purple didn't really seem to fit.
