Description You're all going to hate me. I know it. But I thought this was rather cleaver, and wanted to share it with you. It's amazing what you'll find in stores after x-mas is done. I also bought that day
a tiny golden birdcage ornament, a golden feather ornament with rhinestones, a big star twirly ornament, some ornaments out of light green velvet with pink pearls and cameos... All of which I plan on using on one costume or another one day. Now that you know that I am a certifiable pack-rat... you can just imagine what my craft / sewing room looks like. Now stop thinking about it, you're making me nervous.

Cheers.

I think it's a good way to recycle old christmas trre skirts. anyways if you have a tree skirt and don't want to sew on it or cut it up, you can always use it as a pattern. I think it's smart.

I was just shopping after x-mas, and saw these gorgeous tree skirts, and the idea just came to me. I opened up the top button, slipped it over my head, checked myself out in a mirror, and bought it. I also bartered with the guy; there was another tree skirt similar to that one which was about $50, but this one had no price, so I offered him $10. I mean, it HAS rabbit fur on it! Spectacular, cause he just agreed to sell it to me, no questions. lol

Wow! What a barter!
Man, that was one automatic response at seeing the tree skirt! hahaha Since I don't know to much about capes, I never would have imagined!
But now I have it in mind, thanks. ;D

I've never heard of a tree skirt before. But now I think I'll dive into the christmas decoration section of shops to try and find one

Really?! holy moly. Is it just a Canadian thing?! They sell them at Target and stuff... lol I might just have to buy some surplus ones when they come on sale and then sell them on Etsy! ha ha

Just use the word 'Cape' on Etsy and I think you are onto a money spinner

A cleaver Idea? Isn't this cutting edge costumery? It's a hugely creative idea, and really quite simple. You are to be applauded for your inventiveness.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but I'll take any positive feedback I can get.

It was a play on your typo-'cleaver' instead of 'clever'. I am always serious when I compliment an artist, especially one with as much talent as you possess. I am much more likely to be sarcastic with people who pass off sloppy, sliphshod work as 'art'. That ain't you, miss.

Most places that sell Christmas decorations have tree skirts (to hide the ugly stand for your Christmas tree). I just couldn't help myself when I saw this one!

Hellwolve In reply to Idzit [2008-11-10 14:58:51 +0000 UTC]

Truly, I've never seen one before Ah, well, learned something new, then

Idzit In reply to Hellwolve [2008-11-10 18:51:20 +0000 UTC]

You've never seen a tree skirt? They serve a couple purposes;
a) to hide an unsightly fake-tree base
b) to catch the pine needles (if your tree is real)
c) Make prezzies that much prettier
d) sop up all that extra Christmas money you could have spent on your brother's x-mas present.

Well, never in stores, that's for sure. Our stands, e.g. the family's stands, have had either 'improvised' skirts or the stand by itself was good enough

Do it up! The guy seemed to look at me funny in the store, but when I explained it to him, he thought it was a marvelous idea. Some tree skirts can be really expensive before Christmas though. It's also a fun costume piece if you find a plaid one and trim it with some fur and use it while caroling!
