A pseudo-gryphon and a recurring creature in my sketchbooks, I've been drawing this fella for years now. He's essentially a combination of the nocturnal animals that dwell outside my house: a barn owl, raccoon, and cougar. But this is definitely the most interesting color scheme I've ever applied to it. I have watercolor pencils to thank for that.Related content

Owls are very awesome.Β Love owls too.Β Think we have a barn owl here in the neighborhood somewhere.Β Sometimes I hear it's calls late at night.Β Barn owls also have really pretty feathers for sure.Β I think my favorite owl either is the Snowy owl or Barred Owl (just for the call alone).Β

They all have something unique to them. I love Barred Owls too; I see them quite a bit where I live, but I sometimes mistake them for Spotted Owls or vice versa. Barn Owls will always be my favorite, mostly because they make a weird variety of sounds. And also because of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole books :3

You're soo lucky to live in a place where you get to see them.Β Well, I'm happy we get a ton of other birds come to our backyard in the daytime so can't complain.Β Can't get enough of those mourning doves.Β

Oh, I love mourning doves. Hearing them coo is just so relaxing, and I find that they always leave behind such pretty feathers.

Yeah love waking up to their cooing in the early morning.Β Quite relaxing and they are so cute when they get all poofy trying to sleep on a branch or keeping warm in the rain.Β We have a female dove who has been coming to our backyard pretty constantly with a hurt foot like she can't open or talons up so they are in a closed fist position all the time.Β However she seems to be fin and happy and has a friend/mate which is always with her so that's nice to see.Β She so cute she lies on the ground since she is unable to perch on a tree branch unless it's a really wide and flat part of it.Β Seen her for a few months now.

Oh, poor thing. But it sounds like she has a good life. I hope she is able to live long and happily! That reminds me of this one-footed seagull that likes to come by my house. He's pretty big and doesn't like it when other birds come around, but he loves squawking at me through the kitchen window (not as pleasant sounding as a morning dove but it always makes me smile). That being the case, I'm guilty of feeding him scraps. He's been visiting my house for a few years now, but he'll often vanish for a few months at a time to go do seagull stuff.

Oh yeah, she was on the ground today getting some sun and being cute and poofy so I'm sure she is quite content.Β Awwwww you have a seagull friend.Β Very cool always have a weakness for wild animal and human bonds.
