Description My first ever splash shot! Not the best, but i'm rather impressed with myself. not gonna beat myself up despite all the things i see wrong with it.

When I think of a splash shot, THIS is what i think of. Not a lot of the crap on the front page of deviantart. Not that mine is better, but that this is just my interpretation of photographing an object and water at the same time.

there are some technicalities i wish i had better addressed in this photograph, ie: lighting and photoshopping, buuuttt its all okay. I'll just do better next time. I made a few mistakes, I learned, and i'll do it better it tomorrow

Plus, since i've been kinda dormant, i wanted to upload a picture of some of the stuff i've been working on, (not to mention, i've been doing some soul searching, and started therapy). I've decided that being a photo assistant sucks, not that i don't bust my ass doing it and try as hard as i can to be good at it, but i think i am more in my element being a leader and not someone's bitch. A photo assistant is, afterall, a glorified waitress. And I am entitled to that opinion.

that is very nice of you, thank you!
Though, i pretty much don't the majority of my work. I see this as a sign that I am always improving. Once you get comfortable and satisfied with what you are doing, you are not bettering yourself and you'll never grow from your last photograph

Cool! I know these shots can be really tricky to get... (I helped with this project: [link] - my job was to hold the pepper underwater with a fork & pour the pitcher of water over it) I can't even imagine how tricky it would be to drop objects into the water & get them looking this good.

wow that sound intense, and good work with the pepper, haha! Nice photo. Is it flipped?
And yea, they def are tricky. its a little bit of precision, good lighting, and a lot of luck

Yes, it is flipped - the "floor" there is actually the surface of the fishtank. This is a popular "splash" technique for advertising, apparently? We ended up with HUNDREDS of photos from that day! there was the pepper, a pegasus, a can of shaving cream, a squeezy-toy frog... anything & everything we could think to dunk in the tank.

haha, i don't think there is a right or wrong way to do things for commercial work, but there definitely seems to be certain ways people like to do things for one reason or another. And i had a billion pictures too from my photo. I dunked lemons, perfume bottles, puzzle pieces, anything. Splash shots are fun, but crazy

in my kitchen. haha! You should see it right now, its a fricken mess.
I used my new profotos, all three, two directly from the side, one in the front as a filler. Should have lit the background and have a fill light in the front that didn't cause a glare, buuut it is okie! Now i know! I figured out why i had weird settings on my camera, its cause of the limited space i possess, thus i have to put the lights close to the object, thus i have to compensate drastically in camera. I would use the garage for its large space, but its soooooo damn hot in there. Its literally got to be like, 90 degrees in it cause its registering as 106 as a high today up here. gah
