yeah, still the abdomen turned to be rather boring in design, I like the mandibles though

I am not sure about colors being that good. I mean organics can use much more sophisticated color palettes. Like this one for example: vetbook.org/wiki/cat/images/th…

Of course they can, but more color variations don't necessarily add to unity of subject. Plus as a concept it looks pretty appealing to me

What happened to the giant blades over its sides? Or is this an alternate version of the unit?

Yeah, those blades are supposed to be burrowing claws. Decided not to include this ability in the design.

The insectoid designs unfortunately are too compulsive and very common. It indeed looks like a meaty beetle.
