As I said in my journal, this is just a portion of a future deviation, which I probably will not finish for a while due to college having started. I happened to have completely finished drawing/coloring Sonic the Werehog, but none of the other characters in the final product yet.But you all can deal with him standing alone for now, right? If it wasn't already apparent, I have to say I loved Sonic the Werehog, both design-wise and gameplay-wise in Sonic Unleashed. Maybe I'm one of the few, hm, but oh well! He's the coolest mutated freak ever. But hard to draw!
This was outlined with a pencil, with some heavy, heavy Photoshop edits, and colored in PS too of course. I kind of tried to make it look like artwork from an anime, trying to closely follow Sonic X's coloring style (which is basically Yuji Uekawa's coloring style simplified).
I know the shoes = major fail. I couldn't wrap my brain around how to exactly shade those darn spikes on his shoes, or even draw them correctly. Sigh...
I hope to finish the final product as soon as I can find time!

Well, I tried to draw Sonic in werehog form-and it turned out terrible! It was horrible and I just couldn't get it right, so I moved on to the next. But yours is better than mine will probably ever be...I might try it again soon...I'll think about it.

I love the werehog's deign too! just not his game play design. Bad God of War wannabe fighting system? no lock on (besides blcking)? unreliable block system along with a dodging with no invincibility frames whatsoever? tons of useless combos? no thanks. more originality and better ideas for combat please!as a brawer fan, he dissapointed me.
I liked the platform elements, but they needed more development, too simple in long term! it needed to be more dynamic, as opposed to the linear and rigid design it had. the platforming couldn't compete with the likes of ANY of the 3d Mario games (if I was in the development team, I would have played those games to see what worked for a 3d platformer. screw the tight rope walking, that was annoying more than fun.)same thing applies to the majority of the level design for the critter. not interesting or epic enough for my taste, so under achieving and unambitious compared to Sonic's stages.
and couldn't they think of more interesting gimmicks for super strength besides PULLING LEVERS AND OPENING DOORS? hurray! I'm doing mundane tasks with SUPER STRENGTH! yeah, no thanks. not enough rubber arm use either, what was up with that?
the bosses with the character were poorly designed as well.that, and VERY easy.
game play design wise, he had so much untapped potential for originality and fun, but alas, that was not to be.
nice drawing by the way, I love the art style you drew him in. can't wait to see what else he draw him with.
