Description
A bookshelf full of old legends, full of words and wisdom.I love that silvern thing there, with the green orb of glass, which I bought in some Antiques-shop years ago.
It's a bookmark. Normally an Ex Libris is some kind of paper or label with the name of the owner, pasted on the first page of a book, but it's engraved there on a silvern coin-thing.
And yeah, it's my bookshelf. ^^

Thanks a lot!^^
I worked quite a lot on the lightning.
Yeah, I love those little objects. That green orb was the initiation to the photograph.

yes the lighting completely makes it; any different, like slightly over exposed or even a different angle, tbh i don't think i'd like it as much... i'd love to include it in my next feature

touché...
I taught it myself through imagination...
Whatever... this is by far the best picture I had taken...and it was the first I shot just for deviantart... since then I try hard to meet my own expectations.

Thank you.^^
That's really great an effect from looking at this.
I collect these old books because they seem to promis me something when I look at these fine lines and decorations, black or golden, shimmering on the coloured binding... as vivid as the thoughts printed inside the pages.

Well...the biggest one appears to be an old cookbook.^^
so...not that gripping^^... but very useful if you actually cook for lords and ladies in your spare time^^

An old cookbook sounds great! Whoa! When was it printed?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Ikonion In reply to AvaInferi [2010-11-19 13:37:12 +0000 UTC]
Well... it is not that old, it's a reprint from 1997, but the design and content is from 1885.
Although I posses older books, I couldn't lay my hands on a real old cookbook.

AvaInferi In reply to Ikonion [2010-11-21 17:50:58 +0000 UTC]
The design looks old enough for me. Old books have something that new ones lack.

Ikonion In reply to AvaInferi [2010-11-23 23:24:12 +0000 UTC]
Jep. True.
Mostly... the new ones lack style and quality in crafting.
A book needs time and compassion. I think binding a book needs to get more on the level of the content.
Oh... what a pity is today

The light in the picture really contributes to the atmosphere of the picture. And the green thingy ( not sure what it is !? ) is quite eye-catching.
Makes me wish I would own such a beautiful bookshelf.
