This has a nice retro feel to it DL, reminds me of models I've seen in films from the 70's and 80's.

Nice work. I like the station city-like design and how the other one in the bg is like another town or city, how there's not just one station around the globe like everyone always do.

you know I understand people wanting to live under a dome like that, it would feel a lot more comfortable, but it just seems so dangerous to me.

The general premise is that the dome is just as strong as the metal, but it's more expensive, so you don't use it as much.

well sure but even a pinhole is dangerous and you have a BROAD open area that cant be sealed off being the inherent problem with it.

That would be the same for any part of the station. You'd have clear backup partitions that slide into place. The transparent metal/material would be in multiple layered plates that are vacuum-responsive. Basically, that pinhole would just suck one of the floating layers into place immediately. They already have workable solutions to that. It's like a trapdoor that's activated by suction. Sealing off would be inherent in the design. We have that technology today...honestly, we've had it since about the 1700s.

so is that a shield or just a Glass-like dome?

It's a glass-like dome. The setting is, for sci-fi on the lowtech end, with everything contained to our solar system. I don't think there's anything like shields or energy weapons.
