i find it kind of akward for a colonial ship of that type and class to have that much weaponry on-board. you sure your ship isn't a refit vessel with passengers? just a sci-fi critic. and from all the movie's i have seen and games i have played, and books i have read. there isn't a single mention of a colony ship in any universe, having that much allotted firepower on-board. no offense to your ship, but the word over-kill comes to mind. still though, elegant vessel, nice design and it almost looks like that of an anthropod. however, from the space in the rear of the craft, i would have to guess that that is where engineering is at, as well as your power source ( a nuclear fission reactor perhaps?) and no rear under-belly or upper turrets? pity, one rocket up the back-end or a stealthed pirate vessel using a flanking tactic, and your beautiful ship is a drifting junker with a dead crew.

im sorry if i always see the downside in things more than the upside, its not my fault. its just how i was raised to view the world.....

It's got chase weaponry, you just can't see it from this angle, and the two whitish areas are in front of the bay are belly turrets. My setting is dangerous and those colonists have no way to get help in a timely fashion, so yeah, they travel with an armed ship and a military contingent onboard. Remember that once they get where they're going all they've got is what they bring with them. In all those sci-fi movies, what usually happens to the unarmed colony ship? It usually involves lots of screaming, escape pods and the word "lone survivor" is often thrown about afterwards.
I also cue off history. The first explorers and colonists to the New World on Earth were armed for bear. Because sometimes the natives are restless, and all that good will don't mean squat if you're only one "wait, wait don't shoot!" between being a colonist and being lunch. Sure, there's a chance you land on the Garden of Eden, but there's also a chance you land on Fallujah.

good point. but also, in alot of sci-fi's thos such cononly ships are usually escorted by a larger class military vessel. unless its a ranged colony ship that travels out to the outer-outer planets.

Yeah, this is an "ark" type of ship. It takes months to years to reach its destination and most people onboard will likely never return to human the space. The theory is that if you send out enough arks with big enough populations and everything they need to sustain themselves, than humanity becomes impervious to extinction.

Nice design for a colonial first in craft. Very businesslike.

Cool ship, and I like the dusk (dawn?) lighting as she begins her landing.
