So, is that bow the Protectorate's signature on a ship, like the Federation dish and the Klingon command boom?

Yeah, the overall rectangle "brick and tower" design. Most have a jutting out bow like the Dreadnought, but the overall shape is always the same, usually with the rectangular outriggers about two-thirds back as well. They have at least two forward firing weapon systems of different types, railgun turret coverage and some kind of "chase" weapon, typically.

I think you should go with the jutting bow too. It's a nice, visually distinctive feature.
