Hey illeity, starting at the third panel, is that whole dialogue a quote by Carl Sagan?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

illeity In reply to 17jododd [2012-11-17 03:19:24 +0000 UTC]

Nope dude, only the 10th and 11th panel come from Carl Sagan.

So... you yourself thought of those lines of love, hope, and trust, even in "The Lich- Prologue"? If that is so, you are not only an 'artisan', but also an 'freelancer' and I admire you!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

illeity In reply to A-Chester [2012-11-18 16:42:29 +0000 UTC]

For "The Lich - Prologue", the last panel is a quote from Oppenheimer, the father of the atom bomb. Otherwise, I wrote the rest myself.

I appreciate it dude

Same here. Would have been nice to see more of him in an episode though.

Linkzilla In reply to ??? [2012-11-15 02:35:12 +0000 UTC]

Wow - really deep. It was Billy's right?

...However, I kind of don't think that the Lich is truly gone for good - and by that, it means that Billy may still be alive. I thought Billy was dead - but still in the episode they did say he was Possessed, and the Dream with the cosmic owl was just what the Lich wanted Finn to see. I think that they're both still out there.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 2

illeity In reply to Linkzilla [2012-11-17 17:30:23 +0000 UTC]

It's not canonical if that's what you were asking, but I dunno, what Prismo said regarding a "ghost wearing a dead guy" is pretty definitive. Still, Magic has solved a lot of things, including bringing back the dead

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

starrywyvern In reply to Linkzilla [2012-11-15 02:43:19 +0000 UTC]

Prismo also stated that he was disgusted by being visited by a ghost wearing a dead guy.

The Lich is still around, but as for Billy... Not so much.

5oclockshadow [2012-11-15 01:08:24 +0000 UTC]

so the only part that's a Carl Sagan quote is the end right? Did you make up the rest? Because it's brilliant.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

illeity In reply to 5oclockshadow [2012-11-17 17:24:55 +0000 UTC]

Yup, only the 10th and 11th panel is the quote. It was Carl Sagan day a few days ago, so I chose a quote in honor of him

Awesome as always.

But man, the fifth season premiere was nuts. Just... crazy even for AT.

illeity In reply to DaveBaldwin3D [2012-11-17 17:31:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeap, really dark. I always wonder how kids process these things. I can imagine kids just staring at the screen while Finn was screaming as he held Jake.

MissyMeghan3 In reply to illeity [2012-11-23 00:11:37 +0000 UTC]

I had my 6 yr old brother watch it with me, and at first he had no reaction, but when it went to mute he kept screaming my brother laughed hysterically. I think if it had stayed depressin, kids would'ved hated this episode, but older kids woul've gobbled it up!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

illeity In reply to MissyMeghan3 [2012-11-23 18:43:15 +0000 UTC]

Well, at least it's still something kids can enjoy. Thanks for sharing that story.
I'd like AT to continue to innovate, but stay rooted to being a kid's show.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

DaveBaldwin3D In reply to illeity [2012-11-17 18:07:45 +0000 UTC]

I mean, if this show came out 10 or so years ago when I was still in elementary school I don't know how I would process it. I mean, I figure I'd like the show but moments like that really hit hard for me when I was younger.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

illeity In reply to DaveBaldwin3D [2012-11-23 18:44:44 +0000 UTC]

Also, don't forget all the innuendo that'll fly above the heads of kids until they're old enough to recognize it.
Now that will be a hoot

Oh man, I'm almost in tears now. Considering I kinda thought Jake the Dog was a bit anti-climactic considering how The Lich ended, this strip was a good closure to the three-parter.

I'm glad it moved you. Well, they managed to push back evil for the time being so I think that's good for the moment.

Anyway, I don't quite understand the line from Carl Sagan. Can anyone explain to me? Thanks in advance...

"The sky calls to us. If we do not destroy ourselves, we will one day venture to the stars." -Carl Sagan

As human beings, we have this self-destructive capacity (war, pollution, murder, envy, etc) but if we manage to overcome it and rise above this tendency, we can reach greater heights and achieve greater accomplishments than we can ever know. We can reach the stars.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 2

A-Chester In reply to illeity [2012-11-15 13:37:37 +0000 UTC]

Wow, so that's the meaning... Maybe I was rather dumb enough to understand that it's all about unity.
I thank you once again. Continue to inspire us with your artworks.
