Description
I made this for all the people that keep asking me how I made my Botan wig. I hope it helps to answer some questions. If anything needs to be clarified, or you have a question about it feel free to PM me. But please read through this first, before asking.Helpful links:

What happens if you only pull the hair up, like normal hair to make a ponytail? Does the weft show up?

Sorry I've been trying to answer this for the last 30min because my internet keeps acting up. To answer the question, yes the wefts will show through if you just pull the hair up like regular hair. However there are several solutions to this problem. One you can do this lovely criss cross style from godsavethequeenfashion. www.godsavethequeenfashions.co… Another is to sew wefts along the underside of the wig and pull up to cover spots where the wefts show through. You could even tease the hair a bit. It really just depends on how high you want the ponytail to be.

To make the wefts, did you take hair directly from the wig or did you buy packets of extensions/wefts?

I butchered another wig for wefts, as well as buying some loose extensions and made my own wefts.

Ah okay, just curious because I have to make a Sailor Cosmos wig (similar to Sailor Moon only the odango's are heart shaped) and I bought a 51" long wig and sixteen 20" extensions and I keep looking at everything and asking myself "will this be enough"? And I can't find many online tutorials on Sailor Moon wigs (surprisingly) that talk about the wefts.

I'd suggest checking out this lady's gallery. I provided links in the tutorial, as she's the one who inspired me to make my Botan Wig after reading how she made a high ponytail wig. [link]
Also this lady [link] does a lot of Sailor Moon wigs.

I have already consulted Kukki-san already lol! I asked her on how she did the heart-shaped odango's and what-not. I also am on a budged for my costumes, so I couldn't buy too much and I feel like I don't have enough lol. I'll probably have to take hair from the wig to use as wefts though. I can't afford for someone to style it for me either - I'd rather not do that.

Lol! Ah okay. I understand.
Did you look at that other link? The lady does a sort of criss cross thing with the hair in the back. It's something to try, anyway. I did it with another wig that I haven't posted pics of yet.

I just went back to your links and they're the same - Kukki-san lol
And does the criss cross method work well?

Oh wow! That's amazing!!! I will definitely have to do that for my Cosmos wig (especially since its 51" long lol!) So the 16 20" extensions I bought should be enough then. At least I think they should be - the tutorial says 4 yards of extensions - that's (if I calculated this correctly) 144" and I have a total of 320". So yeah I should have enough!
Sorry for the rambling XDD I have to physically write it out... I'm so bad at math XDD
Thank you so much for your help though!!

I was wondering if you had to dye your wig. If you did then how?

I did not dye it, I simply made wefts of different colors.
