Description Google search:
Little Mermaid ((c) Disney)
Because I was prejudice against the blond Princesses. It kind of started me on my love of fantasy creatures. Then Mushu started me on Dragons, creatures my mom and I believe did exist at one point (along with unicorns.)

Lion King ((c) Disney)
I always liked it, but didn't obsess until just recently. I also didn't join the "dark" side until recently. Disney movies in general shaped me as an artist, though I used to draw only in my style.

Angel
One of the first things I remember drawing is angels. It is still something requested often. I once did a Serenity Prayer/Rosary tattoo. I used to imagine God as looking like "Dopey" on Snow White (I always hated Snow White.) I don't know why....

Bugs Bunny ((c) Warner Bros.)
Looney Tunes is my all-time favorite show, and I watched it every day. I have a WB sweater with some of the characters. To me, this is the a good children's show, not Dora or Kai-Lan.

Powerpuff Girls ((c) Cartoon Network)
Another favorite, though I wasn't allowed to watch it because of the violence (but Bugs was okay?)

Sailor Moon ((c) someone...?)
My very first anime. I still like it, and it inspired me to draw anime. I didn't like any other until freshman year when =invader--ash got me into Death Note.

Devil
Another thing I remember drawing when I was little. I imagined him as red, with a goat's lower half and ram horns.

Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron ((c) Dreamworks)
I was really into horses when this first came out, and the obsession died shortly after. It is still a master piece and well animated (plus β™₯Native Americansβ™₯) but horses aren't at the top of my list.

Lady and the Tramp ((c) Disney)
My dog growing up was Toby, and he looked like the Tramp, especially after a haircut. More Disney influence.

Mom
My mom, my Mule Mommy, my Simon Cowell, and my Squishy. I love my mom a lot, and she raised me single handedly with no to little help from my father or other family. She may not be an artist, but she envisions how thing are supposed to look, we are very in-tune, and tells me what to do to fix it. I want to be a strong and independent woman like her.

Dad
Yes, my dad. To those who know the story of my father, this may shock you. My father is the reason for everything that has happened in my life. He helped create me, he destroyed my life and my mother's, he also left me with the best mom on earth, and it inspired me to draw a lot.

Wolverine ((c) Marvel)
Well, comic book super heroes in general, but I never do anything with X-men, so I wanted to put the best of the best.

MySpace Search:
Jen Lauster
She was, or is, a girl I know. She had a lot of movies she introduced me to including "The Dark Crystal," and "The Never-Ending Story." She also is a drawer and faerie fanatic. She and I don't talk much now, which is okay.

Google search:
Love
Love has inspired me both in positive and negative. My highs are high and my lows are low. I am extremely boy-crazy, especially for ones with long hair. I watched many romantic comedies as a kid and my ideals for romance are shaped around those, Disney, and historical couples.

Monkeys with cheese
An inside joke from a guy my mom used to work with. He was a young party-goer who doodled funny little things. I still have all the drawings he handed to me. One of his quotes was "Me gusta los monos con quesos!"

Friends
Friends, frenemies, the ones that stab you in the back and kick you when your down, the ones you lose touch with, and the couple of true friends I've had. They have all inspired me through the years. Several have been made into characters in my works.

Never Ending Story ((c) someone..?)
Like I said earlier, a fandom introduced to me several years back. Yeah, it's cheesy 80's amnitronics, but I love it.

Miss Congeniality ((c) someone...?)
I wanted to be Gracie Hart when I was little. This was my favorite movie. It's helped me make important decisions about my art, career, and self as a whole.

Project Runway ((c) Bravo)
Sparked the fashionista in me and that's the end of that. My one true dream is to be a fashion designer. That world is so cut-throat and crude that I would break down a lot.

Hello Dolly Barbara ((c) someone...?)
A musical I have just started liking. I also like Funny Girl, High School Musical, Grease, Cry Baby, Grease 2, Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, and other musicals, but Hello Dolly is my favorite because of the clothing and catchy songs.

Balto ((c) Warner Bros.)
WOLVES! The end.

Shania Twain
I wanted to be her too. An ocsession lasting at least 10 years. Her voice, her looks, I envied her. My favorite song/video is "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" I still love country music.

Reba McEntire
Through her songs with personal experiences and her hit comedy show, Reba reminds me a lot of my mom and what she's gone through. More country lovin'. My favorite song/video of hers is "Fancy."

Toby
My dog. I drew him A LOT through his entire life. May he now rest in peace.

Several thing were left out, but I can't remember everything.

LOL I love X-Men, Spiderman, Superman, and Supergirl. Since I usually fangirl over Superman/girl, I wanted to try something new.

I've not had a whole lot of exposure to American comic books. When we were growing up they were banned from the household. Mostly because of their portrayal of women in the 80s and 90s and the violence, but I've read and studies them a bit off and on since 2000.

I've never really cared for Superman. A few Superman fans have told me it's probably because I haven't read any of the good stories with him in them. They might be right, I don't know. He always came across very boring to me.

Ah, superheroes were encouraged and supported everytime my cousins and aunt and uncle came down. We watched Spiderman movies and the boys went to Hulk. 8th grade, my teacher put in Batman Begins. I guess I prefer Superman because of the whole "Clark Kent" versus Lisa Kent thing. I'm such a nerd, I know Superman/girl's Kryptonian names. I then saw X-men and loved it. Wolverine is such a bad-ass.

My biological mom was very much about making sure we weren't exposed to that sort of thing until we were mature/old enough to "handle it." To this day I still assert she just really didn't like them herself and didn't want us to like them. XD

No use though. They have a special sort of charm to them, I tend to like the more thoughtful or relationship related stories though. I liked the first and second Spiderman movies, but not so much the third. I've never seen the Hulk movies they made. I really liked Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and the Superman movies I've seen had a certain charm to them too.

The X-Men movies... well I liked 1 and 2 again, but 3... well, it feels too rushed and slapped together to me. I judge a movie mostly off of story and substance usually, and the third X-Men movie is sort of poorly written in my opinion. Which is a shame, I really like the X-Men and Wolverine in particular.

I may have made up for lost time in there. XD When I was younger though I mostly read hard science fiction novels and fantasy books. Nothing like being the only 8 year old in class to have read a 400(?) page novel by Isaac Asimov.

Ah. Parents can be that way, but that's their job.

Yeah, I am real into Teen Titans because they all share an interesting history. And them Lois Lane and Clark Kent But I don't consider Batman a superhero, just a rich guy in leather. Joker is super....SMART! I haven't seen the third Spidey. In the 4th, they're replacing Toby McGuire. Superman movies DX The dogs ate each other in Superman Returns. Books are always better, except with TT and XM.

Again, didn't see 3. I saw the TV show, and read a few of the books, but still love the 1st movie. Wolverine

I was never into scifi. To date, I have only read two books labeled SciFi, but they were also by one of my favorite authors and labeled Romance as well. Fantasy, oh yes, that I love. Dragons, elves, faeries. I was very advanced in reading in elem. school. And in 6th, I read "The Life and Death of Charlie St. Cloud" and "One for the Money" and "Can't Wait to Get to Heaven" off my mom's shelf.

You have that right.

I've really only passing knowledge of the Teen Titans. I always thought of Batman as a hero, but just not a super one... most incarnations of him anyway. He's kind of an anti-hero in some versions of himself.

The Joker is really smart, he's one of my favorite villains.

I heard they were planning to re-boot the Spiderman movies instead of continuing them, but that might just be a rumor, I never checked up to confirm.

I always liked science fiction and fantasy, so do my siblings for that matter. I probably read every book in the tiny science fiction section at our local library. We're all giant geeks. XD

Very true. His counter, Catwoman (Hale Barry version anywho) is really super, and fantastic.

The only supervillian I know besides Slade (from Teen Titans.)

Hmm. Maybe

LMAO Nice.

Gosh it hurts me to come across people like that. Very rarely do I actually try to debate with them or present them with information because it is usually dismissed out of hand. It's sad when someone is so close minded and prejudiced.

Yeah, I never saw Catwoman the movie, but in the comics the Selena Kyle version is pretty cool.

I couldn't stop. I sat here and typed for a long time, stopped, rephrased, backspaced, and typed more. At least their grammar and spelling was good for the most part, and I would've had several more paragraphs.

I just recently saw it, and loved it. My lame library doesn't have many comic book series.

I have a lot of practice letting it go sadly. There's a boat load of people like that who live in this general area, so I get a lot of exposure to them. Actually there's a church full of them about 100 or 200ft from my house. Sometimes they do drive by pamphleting. >__>

Me neither, my older brother is has a fair number of comic books and graphic novels though, so I've read some of his.

No I believe they're some form of Jehovah's Witnesses. They scared the living daylights out of me a few times by driving up really fast in a van, then a bunch of people in suits spilled out running towards me and surrounded me. Then they asked, "Do you have inner peace?" and tried to give me propaganda. They behave in really disturbing ways sometimes.

There are good things and bad things about having siblings. >__> My sister is really awesome, it's my brothers I have mixed feelings about sometimes (1 sister, 3 brothers.)

GAH I hate those people! NEVER EVER EVER I mean NEVER invite them into your house. Like vampires, they will be a pain in the neck. Unlike with vampires, you can't withdraw the invitation. But once, I wish a Jehovah's Witness a merry Christmas.

I am okay with it now, but I used to want a little brother, which is not at all possible since my mom no longer has her "parts." Cervical cancer.

I never invite religious solicitors into the house. Especially ones I recognize as having basically tried to shake me down. Yes... I did that once when I still worked at an office supply store and the woman nearly exploded at me. I just calmly told her I didn't celebrate Christmas either, but I hoped to have a good day on the 25th and that she did as well. The real trick is that most of them around here, I don't know about other places, get insulted if you even ask if they're Christians or insinuate that they are. They have a serious superiority complex about their particular beliefs. <__<

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Did she come away from her cancer alright? I mean without any complications or anything?

LOL They are scary. I said it as I shoved him out the door. After I locked it, my mom exploded on me. I didn't even know what the fuck a Jehovah's Witness was, or that it wasn't a part of Christianity. So now it makes me laugh. Last time I saw one was around Easter, so I was tempted again. They did the van-unloading thing though.

Nah, she just no longer has any reproductive organs. According to my father, that constitutes her as no longer being a woman. But she's not a man, so what is she? O_O

I can deal with strong opinions, but when it looks like they might try to kidnap and brainwash you that's a little much. I mean come on, that's bordering on illegal too. I actually thought they were the mob or something initially the first time they did that to me.

She's a woman. She still has the XX chromosomes, the triple DNA strands, and other pertinent genetic/physical features. Reproductive organs are a VERY small portion of being female/male. I'm not going to judge your father on just that, but it's pretty nasty and demeaning to imply she stops being a woman when she can't have children any more.

Well, yeah. I heard the whole lot on a regular basis in school by the time I reached 3rd grade, but you never know what it's like in other areas. I tend to reserve stronger words for special occasions. The stronger the statement, the stronger the language.

LOL To me, we should all be allowed to say it because all these "bad" words have meaning that originally weren't bad.

But I knew lots of "bad" words growing up, every time I'd piss off my mom. I just wasn't allowed to say them unless I wanted to talk from a different part of my face.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jeremycoatney In reply to iluvdevilschild [2010-08-31 00:49:12 +0000 UTC]

That's true, there's not really a such thing as a bad word per-se. It's how people use and perceive them that makes them good or bad, and considering how easily these uses and perceptions can change between people... As I operate people usually take immediate notice if I use a "curse word" in a sentence because it's pretty easy to tell I'm a soft spoken, plain language sort of person. If I say something like, "these things are bloody pieces of crap" they know that I darn well mean it. XD

My moms don't like it when people cuss either, so they get upset when people do it regularly, but they don't mind when I do it because I use them so rarely. They do find it a tad shocking though when I feel something warrants it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

iluvdevilschild In reply to jeremycoatney [2010-08-31 19:58:46 +0000 UTC]

Very true indeed. I do use the words often and not according to their proper meanings, but I find it difficult to talk properly in this modern world unless I'm writing.

Yeah, mom figured out I swear when she's not around, and didn't say anything. It's a part of life unless your a nun. She knows that much.
