So you may recognise this, if you're an old follower of course! I've updated quite an old piece and thats because it is a re-do of depression:fav.me/d9ek6ef
I really like this piece, but all I could see were the issues so I thought I would go back into it and see what I have learned since the last time this was done! I've got a video of the stream I did while doing this so feel free to have a peep and see what you think!

So this piece, or at least the previous piece caused a bit of a ruckus over the name. I stand by the name, and the piece. I could go on and explain why it is as it is and the imagery the style it is, rather than the over used crying person in a corner, but I won't. What I will say is, depression sucks. It sucks the love and joy out of everything, and you become this hollow shell.
I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy, and the most frustrating thing is that you can never tell when the end is, or, if it ever will come. Unlike a broken bone, you know eventually you'll be able to walk but with depression. Will you ever come out of that haze?

The settings are so pretty, calming and yet... when you look into her eyes, you can notice that something is a little bit off. She is lost somewhere in a corner of her mind.

Yup, this definitely looks much more realistic, like you can feel from her eyes, and facial expression, that she's s not okay.
I like that you took the saying 'Don't judge a book, by it's cover'. A person may look pretty, and sometimes lucky in their lives, but that's just an illusion to mask the feelings thei struggle.

i liked the fact that you're taking a different approach to depression; a lot of people often forget that depression, just as you said in your description, isn't always sadness but it sucks the love and joy which really goes nice with the color choice

I think this an interesting take on a portrayal of depression. I dislike the girl crying in a corer of darkness cliche drawing, because sometimes it's impossible to cry or feel anything for that matter when I'm depressed. Great work!

I'm afraid my English is too bad to explain how I feel about depression, so I'll just say I agree with everything you said; and that your words "It sucks the love and joy out of everything, and you become this hollow shell" are not only a great way to sum it up, but are also horribly accurate. This disease can make life become a daily challenge.
