Description
Let me tell you a story about a boy who once saw Tim Burton's "Batman" on cable in, 2008, I think. It was the scene in the church where Batman and Joker were about to face off. The boy was so excited. The film had been building up to a dramatic confrontation to the two arch-enemies, and now it looked like they were about to settle it once and for all in good old-fashioned fisticuffs. Then the Joker practically broke his hand punching Batman in THAT GODDAMN RUBBER ARMOR!
You see, as the boy soon learned, though some version of the Joker were portrayed as a capable fighter and a physical match for Batman, VERY few writers (or fans) were actually aware of this. As such, Joker had built up a reputation as a very poor fighter. And frankly, the boy thought it was the biggest disappointment in a superhero movie he would ever see.
And then that boy saw "Iron Man 3". And, to put it lightly, I was very, VERY wrong.
Plot twist, SHLOT TWIST! You don't spent all those trailers building up to a movie where, after starring and guest-starring in three other movies, (and even a cameo at the end of another) Iron Man FINALLY takes on his classic arch-nemesis, only for him to be A FUCKING ACTOR HIRED TO BE A RED FUCKING HERRING!!! Nobody gives a fuck if "it seems racist to have a Chinese bad guy". (He wasn't even Chinese in this movie) WAY more people (myself included) are more concerned about being respectful to the source material it all originated from.
At least "Barakapool" has the excuse of being created by FOX, a studio that has f*cked up on the X-Men before. But how, I ask you, could the MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE that we've all come to love and trust, that we have all put our faith in, flop this majorly?! I could deal with how much I missed Tony having a secret identity. But THIS? A lot of people give "Man of Steel" sh*t, (note to self: make a separate demotivational about that at a later date) but even if General Zod never said "kneel before Zod", (literally an essential part of his character) at least HE was actually a decent villain!
Rant over.
Disclaimer: Iron Man owned by Marvel. Batman owned by DC. (Though at this point, it's questionable as to whether they even deserve them anymore)

Yeah. Mandarin might have been a let-down, but at least he got more than 5 minutes of screentime.

well I kinda have this idea where I talk about stuff I wanna see in a transformers Reboot. Just like when you did for "10 things I want to see in a Fantastic Four reboot."

if you really think about it how would they explain him having magic rings in one movie and if they did do that, people will still be pissed off about it since there wasn't any development towards the rings and the mandarin in the first 2 movies

I sorta counted how the head terrorist in the first one was wearing a ring as that. Besides, nobody was expecting the superpowered rings, we were just expecting Mandarin to be the bad guy.

I dunno, I rather liked it. Mandarin was not really a very interesting character in the comics. Personality-wise, he was mostly just a Chinese stereotype with no defining goals or characteristics aside from those assigned to any big Marvel Villain. Aside from his specific set of powers (which I've found most comic writers tend to forget he has anyway), he really wasn't such of a much. Or possibly much of a such.
At least he was interesting as a washed up, drunken actor. And damn if that didn't catch me by surprise. It's rare that a movie - especially a comic book movie - can do that.

It all depends on who's writing him. Besides, HALF the characters in Captain America's movie were never as interesting before. Who's to say they couldn't have done the same with Mandarin?
But yeah, they did a good job hiding it.

Yeah, I suppose it is a bit disappointing. It might have been interesting to see what they could do with the real Mandarin, but I'm not really all that displeased with what they did do. It was an interesting bait and switch, well executed and fits with the running theme the Iron Man movies have of the irresponsibility of weapons contractors and their role in terrorist activities.
But I'm really not as invested in the comics as some people are.

Well, yeah, you have a point. I just find that the disappointment outweighs the positive.
I see. Then I'm assuming you didn't recognize the one Tony was wearing when he cut Killian's hand off?

Not off the top of my head, no. I am at best a casual comic reader. The only comic series I've really liked was Niel Gaimon's Sandman. I've read bits and pieces of others, but I've so far been more invested in the Cinematic universe than the comics.
Except for Thor. The movie's presentation of Loki just annoys me.

I found him entertaining.

I found him a waste of potential and clearly written by someone who didn't understand what a trickster is. Loki was a whiny, pathetic man-child with serious daddy issues, devoid of cleverness or humor.

True. But judging by the trailer for the new Thor film, he may have since evolved into something more like the comics.

I'm hoping. I have my doubts that they'll go all the way - tricksters are very over the top taboo breakers and I don't think any mainstream Hollywood studios would have the balls to go that far - but I'm at least hoping we can see some genuine cleverness out of him. And some humor. Loki *should* be a fun villain.

No, I would guess not. Loki failed to deliver Earth, so Thanos is most likely upset with him, to say the least.

Fan theory. I don't buy it, because there's not a shred of actual evidence in the plot to support it. I suppose anything is possible, but until it actually gets proven later, I'll hold off on complimenting anyone for what they might do. I've done that in the past and it only led to disappointment.

I liked it too. I admit though I was sitting there like, "What? Come on, he's just doing this actor thing to catch Tony off guard, right? No? They're.. they're really sticking with this? Wow"
Enjoying the butthurt, Mr. Over-analytical Comic Book fan? Dohohohoho!
