Description
This creature is not a robot as it is primarily made from organic tissue, though it does many of the jobs traditionally delegated to robots. It is not an alien as it's creators were human and it's ancestry lay in earth's biota. It could technically be called a cyborg, but it has only a few mostly low key implants. It is a construct, a product of genetic engineering and medical technology designed to make a worker. Early genetic engineers tweaked the genomes of naturally evolved plants, animals and bacteria. This creature's genome was compiled from bits of the genomes of over a hundred species assembled, reshaped to fit and further tweaked to produce the basic template for this creature. It has many features common to vetribrates, but also some key differences. It's resperatory system is one way, expelling Co2 out through sporicals on it's torso, it has six limbs instead of the more common four, two of which have two elbows, it has three eyes offering it a 360 degree field of view and it lacks most of a digestive system and any reproductive organs, which were deemed to be a waste of resources given the nature in which constructs were made.
Constructs were grown in tanks under medium, but to allow quick mass production and a steady supply of replacement organs were not grown as all in one entity, but in parts. Seperate organs, skin, muscles and appendages were grown in seperate tanks and then decanted, assembled with tissue grafts bit by bit along with a number of basic cybernetic systems along an assembly line. The component parts of these creatures are designed to naturally slot in with each other. Covered in bandages the construct would then be taken to a consolidation chamber in which it would be laid out onto a bed and injected with a number of drugs so that over a period of a couple of days the tissues could fully intergrate with each other. All the while basic memories would be imprinted onto it's brain. After consolidation the new construct is run through it's paces and is given simple tasks to do.
Constructs such as this one are flexible and adaptable workers which can preform a wide variety of industrial and commercial tasks, although they possess a level of intelligence below that of humans. It can be programmed to do a wide variety of tasks. They have been tweaked so that they only require a couple of hours of rest every few days. They require a two liter bottle of nutrient broth every day (consumed through a port in the chest) for sustenance. This unit has a backpack on it's back and is outfitted with simple plastic shoes for protecting it's feet.

Great image and story! I'd say that robots are more probable than this type of construct, but that's just me...
