Description
Designed as the eventual replacement of the Avenger class, the Glorious class carrier suffered an inglorious fate of being more expensive to construct over the Avenger class. As such only a dozen or so were constructed.

Due to the limited numbers it was relegated to Command Carrier status. At least 3 ships were known to be part of the 1st Fleet.

The Glorious class featured many advanced systems over its older sister class. Grade 5 Fire Control, Hyper Assistance Tactical and Strategic computer (unofficially called HATS with the running onboard jokes of Hats on or off during simulations) and the Gradestar Advanced Mk4 Multigrade Missile system.

Two incidents known by these carriers are:
The Ark (originally named Callas) risked the loss of all hands by rescuing colonists on Derea IV before its sun went nova. After the mission the ship was rechristened Ark in honour of this daring feat.

13th Hull no 2379 (intended to be named Fearless Heart) was sacrificed during the bloody uprisings on Heta 7B. The shipyards came under attack and was to be captured by the secessionists in their drive for independence. Realizing that defeat was minutes away, the onboard AI for 2379 caused the ship core to implode rather than let the ship fall into enemy hands. The resulting explosion destroyed the shipyards in its entire. Debris flung would devastate the secessionist fleet. A copy of the original AI would be used for a later Fortress battlecruiser as tribute to its sacrifice.

A 14th ship was suspected to have been constructed as records indicate resources had been diverted for one. No ship was registered and Imperial Command fear that a Ghost Ship was created for unknown reasons....
