The days of the Vry seemed so far behind the lemon-spotted Lady. Though she could barely remember the times before them. Other than the odd blurred faces and fond memories of a puppy and her human boys. The hound had learned so much that she wasn’t aware she didn’t know during her many years within the confines of the abandoned sewer pant, never surrounded by anyone less than a friend. That is how she had viewed her fellow pack-mates at the time. But her naive gaze had since been expanded to reveal the cracks in the foundation of even the most sturdy of friendships. Friends she thought she had known inside and out turned against her. Refused to acknowledge the truth behind the rebellion. One such friend was the Beta, Cody. The two went way back. He was the first friendly face she had seen within the sewers. At the time, he was just a guard and she was a new recruit afraid of getting slime between her toes. But time had a funny way of changing all that. At first, it was the differences that had brought them together. Yet, it was those same differences that tore them apart.

One of the Lady’s favourite memories shared between herself and the Vry Beta was on the shore of her oldest and truest friend, the ocean. (I know what you’re thinking -has the spotted Lady got any fond memories anywhere else?.. the answer, perhaps one or two hehe.) It seemed like a simpler time then. There was only muffled rumours of rebellion, and she was expecting her first litter with her beloved Geronimo. Cody and Gene had been talking more often, genuinely excited and happy for each other’s successes. He had congratulated both the spotted hound and her ghostly mate on their impending arrival. If only they knew back then what they knew now… Would they have still been friends?
