Description
MaohHistory:
One of the most enigmatic creatures in the known galaxy, the Maoh’s contact with other races is usually fleeting and filled with aggression. The Maoh may not even be a naturally occurring species. The Maoh population and their Tonchiki masters look almost as if they are two different species. The Maoh’s exact area of origin is not known, but it is assume from Bizzle reports that they were created by the Millenians.
The Maoh seem to wander the stars like scavengers. They seek out asteroids and other bodies that have resources for them to process, preferring to go after uninhabited areas first. If a planet is not ready to defend itself from the advanced technological weapons of the Maoh, they will be harvested by the Maoh for biological resources and mineral resources. They travel in miniature fleets called “Kacheks”. As many as ten Kacheks wander the galaxy, hunting for resources and prey. Rumors from the Hammerheads, who claim to have captured a lone Tonchiki floating in stasis pod near a wrecked ship, claim the Maoh have a home world that is close to the Aquila Rift. What a lone Tonchiki was doing in Hammerhead space is beyond the point. One interesting tidbit of info the Tonchiki divulged before being killed for its erratic and violent behavior was that the Maoh home world is artificial, but also that it is a living thing.
The Bizzle encountered the Maoh in the 800’s and battled them, till what claimed to be Millenians came and aided the Bizzle in this conflict. Then as abruptly as they came, they left. The Maoh’s leadership retreated as their entire fleet lay in ruin. It is assumed that the Millenians may have created the Maoh and regretted it, once they seen how vicious and power hungry they were. The Maoh’s hierarchy of having completely different looking low level Maoh and the higher level Tonchiki may be a result of genetic engineering. The Tonchiki almost resemble another species.
The Maoh wander the border regions of Galactic Community Council space, knowing to enter would be suicide-There have been skirmishes between GCC forces and Maoh forces that led to Maoh defeat. But they continue to wander and this reinforces the view that the Maoh are not really much more than sentient scavengers that feed on those weaker than them.
Two Maoh Categories:
Standard Maoh:
Oblong shaped- bodied creatures that have their faces at the top of this oblong-shaped body (no head) that have long-dangling arms that jut out from the sides of the top of this body. There is a flap of skin under each arm that appears to be vestigial. They have two sturdy legs that are covered in a scaly substance that comes off when rubbed against surfaces as a powder. These Maoh castes are broken into groups that do certain duties: Soldiers, pilots, sanitation, food producers, mechanics, etc.
Tonchiki:
They are the leaders of the Maoh species. They are all female and have cone-shaped bodies with heads that have big cheeks and two eyestalks that also have tendrils that drape from each side above of the mouth. They also have a soft, gelatinous mantle that covers their body that leaves tendrils located at the bottom of their main body, thus providing them arms. Lastly these creatures have stubby legs that prop them up. The Tonchiki are the ones that guide the fleets and give orders to their society. The Tonchiki also on the back of their necks have receptor nodes for uplinks with the ships’ biocomputers to gain data and plan the fleet’s next move.
Culture:
Not much is known, besides the strict caste system of this species, their tactics and views when dealing with other species, and the fact that they have biological technology base. However, it seems that they are manufactured originally by the Millenians and the Millenians hate them, so perhaps they were experiments run amok.
Biology:
From Maoh bodies that have been recovered a few things can be garnered about them.
* They are pretty much genetically engineered machines. 30% of their bodies is bio-engineered artiface. Depending on what job they do in society, these biomechanical systems are different.
* They are all grown, not born.
* Their digestive systems are very effective, because of various sorts of bacteria that live in them, allowing them to digest a wide range of material.
* They all have plug-ins for jacks to allow them to gain data from their species’s biocomputers.
* They are sexless, except for the Tonchiki, but yet again the Tonchiki are sterile. HOWEVER, according to a few captured Maoh, it is known that sometimes the Tonchiki will have false births that basically cause them to spit out embryos that are malformed. This is possibly a hold over form a previous time in their evolution/creation.
Military:
The Maoh are basically pirates that launch attacks just to maraud and steal. They are capable of very successful hit and run raids, but do not like long, drawn out combat.
Here are a few of the basic Maoh units:
Maoh Pirate Cruiser:
This is a eleven mile long warship that houses a majority of the Maoh population, it has nine stories to store its population, their hydroponics, and vehicles. It is equipped with a powerful fusion cannon that has a maximum accuracy range of thirty-four thousand meters. It has other weapons such as missile pods (max accuracy range of a thousand, five hundred ft.) and turrets that have a short range of two hundred and ninety feet in their maximum accuracy range scale for close targets, and cannon (x 4) that have a maximum accuracy range of 15, 800 meters.
Maoh Buccaneer Fighter:
This is a semi-saucer shaped vehicles that is known for its speed and its attack power. It appears as a bluish-grey and is about twenty-two ft in circumference. It is known to move at MACH 8, but for brief periods of time (ten seconds) and then revert back to its usual MACH 6 speed. It is equipped with a rapid firing plasma cannon (five bursts per second)
With a maximum accuracy range of one thousand, four hundred ft. It also carries (x3) armor piercing missiles that have a maximum accuracy range of one thousand, nine hundred ft. The Buccaneer is equipped with a system that allows the pilot to block out mental (if any) interference from the Gol Wave System and negates any technical interference, only issue is the minor affect from the system interfering with munition delivery when on way to target. A few Buccaneers have fell into the hands of Simeon engineers and have been reversed engineered. Talk of Tugai- XX raider fighter ships with plasma turrets that’s accuracy range is now five hundred and sixty-five ft. instead of the original two hundred eighty-seven ft and missiles that have a maximum accuracy range of nine-hundred, seventy-five ft. instead of the four hundred seventeen ft range are talked about and feared if to be true.
Sprayer
This snail shell-shaped gun is a common handgun amongst Maoh ground forces. It fires a spray beam with a maximum accuracy range of 80 ft. This weapon is an organic construct and must be recharged after two hours of continuous use. It is recharged by hooking into an energy supply reservoir on a Maoh ship.
Quill Launcher
This is a machine gun of sorts that fires 1.2 inch long quills that are capable of piercing armor. This weapon has a maximum accuracy range of 120 ft. It takes a cartridge that carries about twenty eight quills and reloads quite well-the original cartridge liquefies and is used as a power source for the gun.
Scorpio
This is an organic power armor that is about 15ft tall and looked like a large Maoh soldier with razor sharp claws and a deadly 9.5 ft long tail with an armor-piercing stinger. This purple exoskeleton also has the ability to spit a corrosive acid and is able to run at 60 mph. It’s burrowing ability makes it truly dangerous.
The Maoh, in retrospect, are very little more than pirates and scavengers, but their intelligence and cunning makes them a strong foe indeed.

another interesting entry. I wonder why the Millenians don't just wipe them out - maybe there are several layers to this mystery

Well the fact there are very few Millenians may be that reason too.
