Description As long as there's hatred in the world, peace will never be everlasting.

It cannot be.

Enemies will always lurk in the darkness, waiting to strike.

As long as you live, hatred will as well. As long as the world continues to exist, so will hatred.

You cannot live peacefully, didn't you know? Heroes don't get to. The happy end is just an illusion. Heroes don't get happy endings....only prolonged torture until theydie.

That is the life of a hero...Don't you regret it now?~"_ Nicolei

Peace had returned to the land of Hyrule after Nicolei's demise.

Link stood tall as a hero once more and lived on as a peaceful farmer in the village of Ordon with his wife ________.

He grew the crops and tended to the cattle while she stayed at home, cooking for him, herself, and the growing baby in her stomach.

Life was peaceful and every day brought happiness to the two lovers.

However, _______ was never one that could keep still..even after marriage. She longed for the days her and Link would ride on the back of Epona throughout Hyrule field.

"_______ I'm home!"Link called to her.

She would greet him with a smile and he would return the favor by kissing her cheek and rubbing his palm over her extended belly.

She knew she couldn't complain...nor had the right to. After everything her and Link had been through together..the least she could do was settle down in the village with him and live out a life a peace there..

You smiled at Link as he entered the home you both shared in the small village of Ordon.

He called out to you as he entered and you greeted him your lovely smile as he entered the threshhold of the kitchen where he found you stirring a nice large pot of stew.

His mouth watered as the sweet aroma of it hit Link's nose.

The blond practically drifted over to you and laid a kiss on your cheek.

"Smells good! I'm starving!" he exclaimed, peeking in the bowl.

You grinned.

"Good because I made you extra this time!" You laughed, referencing to the time just a month or so ago where you ate way more stew than you had made for you and Link. Poor guy only got half a bowl that night but hey, that's just what happens when there's a pregnant woman around.

"I'll just have a little taste check." He told you, although quietly as he pulled out the ladle that rested in the pot.

Instantly his hand was smacked with a wooden spoon that you held, causing him to drop the utensil back to where he pulled it from.

He winced and shook his hand, letting out a nervous laugh while you glared at him.

"Oh no you don't! It's not ready yet! You'll just have to wait!" you scolded, threating to give him another good smack should he not heed your warning.

He pouted yet nodded at your order and stepped back.

"Fine, Fine, I'll wait." he tells you.

Turning from the pot, Link made his way back over to where you now were, setting the table for the two of you.

He stood behind you, wrapping his strong arms around your frame and giving your extended belly a gentle rub.

You blushed, yet you stood still.

He needed this sometimes.

His face buried itself in your hair and he smiled softly.

Sometimes he liked ot be reminded of his life.

Of how he could now call you his wife and hold you.

It was honestly a dream come true.

This life was perfect.

He was married to the love of his life, was a hero and on top of that was now expecting a little bundle of joy soon.

Nothing could go wrong.

Or so he thought.

Why would it?

He had already been through the worst of it all, right?

What could possibly come at him now that he wouldn't be able to handle?

And yet..something still tugged at the back of his mind.

A deep dread..

Something worried him, despite being assured that everyone he explained it to, that it was just him being nervous about being a father and the responsibilities and that everything would be fine.

Yet he wasn't so sure..

"Hey, Link? Are you listening to me??"

His blue eyes blinked and you were met with a soft "huh?" as your eyes met.

He was now sitting beside you at the table, staring back at you.

He must have zoned out again.

It seems to be happening..often now.

You sighed.

"You weren't. Jeez, where did you go?" You grumbled.

He chuckled and scratched the back of his head.

"Sorry ______. I just kinda spaced out there. What did you say?" he asked.

You sighed again.

"I said, Uli's coming over tomorrow to bring me that baby cradle she used when she gave birth to her last child." you told him.

"Oh?"

"Yeah, isn't that nice of her?"

You lit up with excitement and Link smiled.

How he loved seeing your (e/c) eyes gleam like that.

He then turned his attention down to the bowl of stew in his hands.

"Yeah, that is nice." was all he said before taking a huge spoonful of the food.

For the rest of the night you and Link chatted with one another during the dinner.

After that he helped with the dishes and it was soon time for bed.

While you soon drifted off to sleep, Link laid awake, eyes glued to the night sky above just out the window.

The light of the moon shined through the window, casting a spotlight on the bottom of the bed while the rest of the room rest in a faint blue hue of darkness.

His lips pursed and he rolled over, trying to get into a comfortable position enough to sleep.

Back and Forth he turned, never falling asleep.

He sighed and pushed himself out of bed quietly, doing his best not to wake you.

Link walked over to the ladder that led down back into the main part of the house, climbing down it as quietly as he could.

Once he reached the bottom, he fumbled around for a minute in the dark until his hands found what they were searching for.

His lantern.

His lifted it in his hand and lit it, watching as it's flame lit the room, cloaking it in a soft warm color of orange.

The light calmed him.

For some reason, lately he just didn't feel at ease in the dark.

Something always felt like it was lurking within it..

His bare feet against the wooden floor made soft tapping sounds as he walked over to a bookshelf.

His eyes scanned the titles of each one while his index finger traced the covers.

He had just about found an interesting one when something else caught his attention.

A sound.

It was a quiet sound, barely audible over his own footsteps.

Thump..

Thump..

Thump.

It was getting louder.

His dirty blond brows furrowed together as he lifted the lantern in the direction of where the sounds were coming from.

They continued, increasing in sound as he made his way over to where they were.

He gulped, looking down at the area where the thuds were the loudest now.

His basement.

It was a not so small room that was just beneath the first floor of Link's house.

There was no door to seperate the area, just a ladder that led down into the space.

But nothing was down there except junk that he couldn't find a space for.

He huffed, muttering to himself.

"Another monkey must have gotten in..or a rodent.." he thought aloud as he began to descend into the dark area.

It had happened over a hundred times.

Sometimes animals would wander in and get stuck in places of the house.

He would usually have to get them out quickly or else they would build nests in his home or tear up anything around them.

This time wouldn't be any different.

So he thought.

When he reached the bottom, Link turned around and lifted the lantern, illuminating the room.

His steps were slow as he searched around for the cause of the constant thumping, which had ironically ceased upon his arrival in the basement.

He heard nothing and saw nothing.

Maybe it escaped upon hearing him come in.

He sighed at a wasted use of his lantern oil and decided that it was nothing out of the ordinary, no use in worrying about it.

With that thought, he turned on his heel, ready to exit the dark and cold space.

He returned to the ladder and prepared to climb out when something stopped him.

The hair on the back of his neck stood straight as he felt it.

A cold grip on his shoulder.

He tensed, a chill running through his body.

There was a presence behind him.

He could feel it.

It was dark, cold..and evil..

Yet he didn't dare turn around.

He rather not see what was behind him, especially with no way of defending himself with anything other than a lantern.

"It..will never...end.."

Link's eyes widened.

A cold voice reached his ears, uttering those chilling words.

In an instant he found himself spinning around to come face to face with that it was now.

His blood ran cold at what he saw.

There before him, barely visible despite the lantern's glow, was the ghostly apparation of his enemy..Nicolei.

His wide golden eyes peered into Link's very soul.

He was covered in his own blood and the wounds Link had inflicted upon him once upon a time ago.

The very wounds that ended his life.

He had a twisted look on his face, one of amusement yet of anger as well.

Nicolei spoke again.

"You can't stop it.."

"You're not real..You're not real!" Link screamed at the ghost who only grinned at him.

Then, as quickly as he had come, he was gone.

He had vanished right before Link's eyes.

The young man took no time in climbing up the ladder and rushing back up to the top of the house where you still slept soundly.

Only when Link lifted the blankets to join your side did he notice his hand, trembling.

He held it still, trying to calm himself and forget about what he had just seen.

Link laid closer to you that night but he didn't sleep.

He didn't even turn over to face the opposite way of you in fear that he would only be greeted by the spirit once more.

His hand found it's way to yours and he gripped it firmly, never taking his eyes of your sleeping face.

At least you could sleep peacefully tonight yet Link laid awake until the sunlight came peeking through the window.

His eyes were dark and heavy as he felt himself relax more and more as the sun rose.

When you woke up, you were stunned to find Link's hand grasping yours tightly and his body close to yours.

You looked over his face and frowned, seeing the dark rings under his now closed eyes.

You were certain he had only recently drifted to sleep.

Reaching over, you ran a hand through his dirty blond locks and kissed his forehead.

"You didn't sleep again..did you..?"
