Description This is my guess at what the United States is like in the alternate reality where Steven Universe takes place in. There are geographical differences, new states, and states that have been renamed. However, only the states of Delmarva, Jersey, Empire, Keystone and Kansas (and Florida's shape) are canon within the show.

I do not own Steven Universe.

maybe rename texas as Houston and california as San Andreas so you don't reuse a real state name ?

Well, I didn't mean for all states to be renamed. I just applied a trend that Steven Universe seems to have with its alternate history.

Probably. I'm not really sure, this was me just testing ideas out.

The result is very good; I think. Thought OTL Dakota's unexpectedly has a large amount of native american population

Probably. And also obviously Navajo would be primarily Native American.

Nice. I like the choice of colours you used; it looks cartoony, which matches the theme

I also like the names you made for the states. I don't understand the full context though, since I haven't seen any SU. Whatever happened to Florida!? It sank?

Why?

CosmicSlug101 In reply to improbableSpace [2016-09-08 01:39:42 +0000 UTC]

Because I've spent about 18 years seeing the US as one shape, with one specific set of interior lines, and while I don't know enough to look and name the states that are different and how, I just look at a place here and go, 'That looks wrong.' And the more I look, the more 'wrong' places I find, and the more my brain finds it Unusual And Therefore Dangerous

Well, I can name the states on a fly. When you love geography enough, you realize that borders are just imaginary lines that can be manipulated.

That's a good point :3
I'm just not overly geographical, so for me it's just odd XD

Okay. What do you think of the names?

CosmicSlug101 In reply to improbableSpace [2016-09-11 04:28:02 +0000 UTC]

They're interesting. I like the inclusion of native names, hoping that means they're reclaimed by those peoples XD
I'm not overly familiar with how the SU 'verse is in regards to the US and its states, so I'm kind of just trusting you on this lol

Read the description, it explains what's canon and what's speculation
