Description Finally finished the box for my chess pieces. The outer frame of the box was cast in 12 bronze pieces that were then welded together. The bevil on the lid was all hand carved. I know there are router bits that could have done the job in less than a 5 minutes, but I wanted to really challenge myself. The outer box and the two inner boxes are all put together with hand cut dovetail joinery.

Great work, both the box and the chess figures.

This was the almost-ark chest? If so, I think adding anything else would have made it look a bit cluttered, this is perfect! How long did it take for you to get the bevil on the lid even and smooth??

Yea its no longer an ark, just a box. Wasn't enough time in the semester to do the angel's or rods, and having graduated I no longer have access to the facilities I would need to do them. Bevil on the lid didn't take that long, maybe 24 hours? Not sure exactly, but somewhere around there.
