Description This was something that had requested and I promised I would deliver. ^^ It's more of a mini-Tutorial than anything substantial, but I hope it helps someone out!

This is my way of attaching manes to ponies with clay before it is baked. If anyone is curious I use Super Sculpey. It's a great bake-at-home clay. ^^

Please let me know if anything is not clear here and I will do my best to explain!

How would you recommend doing this for a unicorn? I am currently trying to make a Vinyl, but I have troubles making her hair stay on and not seem all awkward.

Hm... I've spent some time thinking about this, and I have no clear answer for you. Vinyl's hair is just hard. (I find cutting the right ear off helps the mane look more natural.) The best think to do is to do the "pat pat" with no smoothing afterwards. I hope this helped somewhat.

Let me know if you get it laying well with the ear still on!

Very helpful! When you bake them, do you put the whole sculpt (pony and all) into the oven? If so, do you have to modify the temperature or baking time?

I believe on Super Sculpey, it says to bake at 275F and 15 minutes depending on thickness. I usually just leave my ponies in the oven for 10-12 minutes, since usually the clay isn't very thick. ^^

And yep! You can stick the whole pony into the oven. I was nervous my first time, but it works out well!

That's a relief to hear! I was worried they'd melt or burn. Thank you!

As I experienced today, they do melt in the oven, but only if they fall off the baking sheet. So watch out for that!

I'm glad it helped! They also make Sculpey glue, though I don't know how it would work attaching clay to plastic. (Now I'm curious...)
