EDIT: I have discovered that I really can't paint a forest canopy digitally, so I had to resort to a picture off the internet, blurred and edited for saturation, levels etc. Not my ideal bg, but it'll do. The clouds are all mine, though

A request for ~The-Greenie-Fire for winning 1st prize in my "Darkness Before the Dawn" contest. I know, I know, that was ages ago, but I've been busy this summer (*GASP* I actually have a social life now!) and I did promise that it would be top-quality.
She asked for a "forest guardian" dragon but I asked if it could be a rainforest guardian to fit with her entry, in the aztec feathered serpent mould. I started this the night before results day when I needed something to distract me - hence all the detail in the feathers, so I couldn't think about anything else!
It's taken a week to complete, about an hour for each layer of feathers. There's five different colours in each individual feather, using about twelve different pencils over the entire wing in order to get that blending effect from green to blue to purple, with sea green as the base. Hope you enjoy it - now I've just got ~1mm0r7al999 's 2nd prize to do, along with =rohirrimshadow 's trade, =shadowsand 's ref preoject, Zodiac: Jinx Part 8.... *mutter mutter*

Oh yeah, I've forgotten about that. o.o I'm not sure if I have time to join at the moment. I just recently quit in a dear RPG because of lack of time and inspiration. But if I find my inspiration to rp again I might join the Poison Night pack and try something new.

This is really nice! The colors really gives that impression of forest a creature. And by the look of it, it's obvious that you've spent a lot of time on it. Once it gets a backround it should be amazing!

Oh wow this is really well done! I love the detailing in the feathers, including the striping, I suppose is the name, in the feathers.The colors you have chosen really go well the the rainforest dragon type setting. Wonderful piece ^-^
