Description
This is another work using a quote, this time by Steve Vai; 'God gave the gift of artists so that people can dream while they are awake' To me, it is a particularly meaningful quote, being a dreamer myself. I used a laser cutter on a CAD/CAM system (based on Corel Draw) to cut this out, but the wood was prepared and finished my hand. The lazer cutter usage may mean this section isnt appropriate for it, if it isnt, lt me know and i will move it. THe design was handdrawn, then scanned and outlined in Illustrator, then into Corel Draw for 'printing'edit - better pic, less grainy and a better angle

I never even imagined that working whit wood would bring something so... cool! I mean, for me it was always that stupid school thing that I soon would get rid of, where you only make stuff that is boring and that you in the end don't use at all. But this is totally awesome! 0.0

thanks so much man! i used to like design technology at school - i did it as far as A level, but your right - even the stuff i made at A level i dont use (because it was so over designed I didnt actually have time to finish it properly hehe. I still dotn know why the teachers let me convince them to allow me to go with the designs i did lol)

thanks - um, once i had the concept and basic ideas, took an hour or 2 to finalise the layout of the letters on layers of tracing paper, then a good while to draw it out in illustrator once i had scanned it, and then cos my school only uses Corel Draw it took me eons to translate the AI drawing into corel draw, redraw it and neat it all up to rightangles and whatnot, which took even longer cos corel draw decided it would crash every random number of points on the lines... i had to biscuit joint 3 part planks of ash together into a large sheet, and plane and sand it all smooth. then on the cutter, it took a while playing around with the settings to get it to cut nicely, bout 2 hours to actually cut the guitars out of the ash. then more sanding and finishing. hehe

Those letters are so fun to look at, in full view and out. How they stretch and fluctuate, it's one creative piece of eye candy

I think that maybe the background or angle or something you took this picture with makes the guitar look like a digital image of some sort, even after staring at it for a few minutes, I still couldn't believe it was a photo of something real.
I DO wish I could play it, though.
Unfortunately, there aren't many songs that are worthy of being played on a guitar like that...
