Description
This is another work using a quote, this time by Steve Vai; 'God gave the gift of artists so that people can dream while they are awake' To me, it is a particularly meaningful quote, being a dreamer myself. I used a laser cutter on a CAD/CAM system (based on Corel Draw) to cut this out, but the wood was prepared and finished my hand. The lazer cutter usage may mean this section isnt appropriate for it, if it isnt, lt me know and i will move it. THe design was handdrawn, then scanned and outlined in Illustrator, then into Corel Draw for 'printing'edit - better pic, less grainy and a better angle

nicely done with this creative piece..
I do like the choice upon the "font" that you have used as well with the curious distribution upon each word....
Ohs...I especially like that you have chosen to use that dark shadowing as well...I'm not sure if you have used a medium/stain to cause that affect...but it does pop out the words within this piece...
overall I like the concept

hey - sorry it took so long to reply, i missed a few messages over summer (quite a few really) was just scanning thru them now- thankyou. the font and layout of the words is just what i ended up with after several attempts of making them fit. as for the dark edges, its from using a laser cutter, its actually burnt wood, but it does give a nice contrast to it (and smells lovely)

That is GENIUS. i love how precise it is (but that's the laser cutter for you) must have taken a while. ever done anything in perspex? i reckon stuff like this would look really cool in light-emitting acrylic. it's cool stuff.

hey - sorry its been like 6months since u posted... i must have missed the message - i did actually do one of these in acyrlic, ive been meaning to do a base for it with some lights in so it will glow but never got round to it... there is also that new 'live edge' acrylic that would be worth a try. anyway, sorry it took so long, but thanks a load for ur comment :>

Wow, amazing. My ex is going through a really hard time right now. And he LOVES Steve Vai! He used to play him for me on his guitar, actually inspired me to take up guitar myself.
