Description Lurdusaurus is one of the few dinosaurs that we have good reason to believe lived a lot of their lives in water.  Dense bones probably helped them sink to the bottom to feed on water plants without expending any energy.  You may or may not know, but that is exactly how hippos work too, and they are so dense that adults cannot swim at all.  But what if they had cute little floaties built into their bodies?  In case you were asking that question, this dossier is your answer!

Common Name: Lurdu
Species: Lurdusaurus Inflatam
Time: Early Cretaceous
Diet: Herbivore
Temperament: Territorial

WILD
Lurdusaurus Inflatam may be a herbivore, but you wouldn't guess it from the gnarly appearance and similar attitude.  They drive out any uninvited visitors with extreme prejudice, bullying any and all other species out of their territory. Unwilling to share their hangout spots with anyone, expect a gang of these brutes to greet you with a ferocious show of force at just about any watering hole...

Even with their normal eagerness to pick fights, they know not to draw the attention of larger predators, so Lurdusaurus chooses to only leave the relative safety of rivers and lakes to feed in the calmer hours of the night.

DOMESTICATED
With a sturdy body, a wicked beak, and thumb claws, Lurdusaurus is able to keep allies safe from all manner of threats, on land and in water.  For animals so chock full of heavy muscle and thick bone, Lurdusaurus are surprisingly buoyant.  This is due to their ability to inflate balloons on their flanks and throats with air, allowing them to bob effortlessly on the surface. Being able to rocket up to the surface provides a convenient escape from aquatic predators they encounter while searching for seaweed.  It just so happens to also make them great at carrying cargo over water without tiring!
