Description

Troodon corrumpere (corrupt wounding tooth, according to some Google Translate) is what I consider to be an improvement on Jurassic Park: The Game's Troodon pectinodon's design, but acts in mostly the same way.  It was said that Jurassic World 2 is meant to be a more intimate, tense movie than the large-scale action of previous films.  So what better to compliment that than arguably the franchise's most terrifying beast?  For those unfamiliar, Troodon pectinodon was meant to be a purebred dinosaur, with the holes in its DNA left unfilled.  They are extremely dangerous, not for their size, but for their venom.  One bite can cause a human to fall into delirium.  After some time, the victim, if given enough venom, will become almost entirely paralyzed, after which the Troodon either eat at their leisure, or, if a female is pregnant and due to lay her eggs soon, and the prey is small enough, drag it into their lair, and use the still living, but helpless victim's insides as an incubator for their eggs.  In the game, they didn't attack in just packs, but hordes, slipping in and out of the shadows.  Their large eyes are extremely sensitive to light, and a flare too close to their head is painful enough to cause them to retreat.  While in the shadows, Troodon communicate with a sound that seems to be a mixture of hissing and clicking.   Troodon corrumpere is much the same, except aesthetically, in the sounds they make, and the fact that corrumpere's venom was intentionally granted to it in the lab, rather than pectinodon's seemingly natural or mutated toxins.  Troodon corrumpere make noises akin to that of a loon, but more chilling.  Jurassic Park's Troodon also seem to be capable of "turning off" the glow of their eyes, possibly swapping visibility for stealth.  They have red bellies, all the way up their necks and down their tails, and black markings all over their light grey bodies.  Troodon corrumpere has a narrower head, more square from a frontal view.  they possess shorter, more robust fingers, better suited for subduing prey to deliver venom from their thin, delicate fangs, rather than the light finger bones of their raptor relatives, used to get a grip prey while the toes do the main work.  Troodon corrumpere's enlarged toes serve a different purpose as well as aiding in pinning down prey, which is to lacerate the bellies of prey for implantation of eggs, and easy access to food, to manipulate objects, and for added traction in climbing or running in the often-wet Nublar and Sorna jungles.

The Troodon was and still is my favorite and I'm excited to see if they bring them into the new movie. Also amazing work.
