Description The BCE building in downtown Toronto, home of various exhibitions, both temporary (World Press Photo) and permanent (Hockey Hall of Fame).
I walked in just as they were hanging up the Christmas lights...too bad it would be days before they were finished and i was gone by then. I'd love to see the place dressed up in xmas lights!

Not manipulated, well except noise reduction and slightly increasing contrast. The D70's auto white balance produces cool results sometimes no?

Full view please, otherwise you'll miss the stars of the shot

Yes you're right the angle is very simliar to mine [link] . When I was there the decorations were up, you must've been there in November or so? Nice portait angle too. And yes the building is very photogenic, but let's keep that a secret between us lol Live in Toronto?

And I do have another shot from a different angle in that building I will submit soon

Hard to believe that something so tiny in the shot can be the focus. Great symmetry, too.

Great shot. Love the way that architecture seems to stretch into infinity. I also like the predominantly gray tones, very appropriate.

I always try to do something like this myself, then end up being a few degrees of perfect. Anyway, great work!

Ehe yeah i know what that's like. you can always tell a tourist apart from the rest from the fact they're looking up, around everywhere but straight ahead. But it's a shame that people don't do that kind of gawking in their own city, you end up missing out on things!

Interesting that this image almost looks B&W. Aren't the supports/window frames green there? Still a cool effect. The overcast sky and the contrast. Good image.

I used to have a GF that worked in that building, the lobby is an amazing bit o architecture. The accoustics are also cool. There have been a few free concerts in there.

eggwacker [2004-12-01 18:08:17 +0000 UTC]

oh wow, indorock, this one is excellent. What captured my attention immediately was the arch patterns on the room, repetitively diminishing into the distance. My eye was led seemlesly down the length of the picture. I love how it's perfectly balanced, the only exception being one of the top posts (the one closest to the top frame) not matching up with the one on the left, but that's being extremely nitpicky. The two people in the picture add the perfect touch and really completes the picture. How lucky you are to see and capture the moment.

The color and overall tone of the picture is perfect as well. It's amazing that with minimal adjustment, you were able to come up with such a brilliant capture. Great to see some quality stuff from the D70. Mine's on order and set to arrive in a week or so. You have me excited. My only criticism about this work is not the piece itself, but with the title. Suspended doesn't really describe the mood I felt when viewing the picture, but that's just my personal taste. Overall, this is simply outstanding. I haven't faved an architectural piece yet, but this deserves to be the first. Keep up the great work!

wow thank you sooooo much for such an elaborate comment! i really appreciate it!!

yeah the D70 is so lovely, TOO lovely in fact, since now i'm spending too much on lenses, flashes, etc to expand my horizons even further...
about the title, i admit it's a bit bland...i'm just at a loss of cool titles these days, so you'll have to forgive me

thanks for the too!!

The depth is great, and I love the pattern you taken here, though I can't help feeling though that you should've been more centred to . Still, it's a fantastic photo, definitely a +fav.

indorock In reply to AndyDavidPhotography [2004-12-01 19:37:14 +0000 UTC]

thanks! well i was as centered as i could get, but many times my short lens ends up distorting the outer details, so so hard to get the perfect symmetry. but thanks for the +fav!
