If you've ever seen the manga, you see the panels Ishinomori drew of the cyborgs getting in the water. It cracked me up just seeing their hair or top of heads poking out of the water.I also like Joe laughing at his own lame joke. XD

It might be me but according to the first volume of the english 2004 manga didn't Gilmore say that Jet didn't get artificial/synthetic skin, and that being the reason he got hurt?

All the cyborgs did get an artificial skin in the manga. Though 009 had a more advanced version of the skin. The needles could get through Jet's skin, but not Joe's.

Heeheehee, I guess that's why Jet was able to feel pain when he had accidentally cut himself and burnt himself while trying to cook (he ought to stick with just TV dinners and take-out). Although I take it his skin is durable enough to not peel while flying at mach 5 speeds.

Yeah XD There is a lot of leeway the writers take ;3 Though like you said, their skin is durable enough to go at mach 5, but, I think they do have some sensory info in their body that they react to. Though... you're right, a little hot skillet is cooler than traveling at those speeds

I think I know the ones you're talking about--I got one of those too actually! I also have two Jet figurines on my desk and the set of those Cyborg keychains that come in a pack of eight. Seven of them still need to be hung, but Jet is on my backpack. C:

I'm going to go laugh myself to death. If you hear about someone who died laughing on the news in Australia then you know it's me XD.
By the way I don't think 009 knows the risks with cracking a joke while swimming. Water + uncontrollable laughter = downing.

XD It shows up in several books, Volume 1 and 2 for sure. They are in a submarine a lot the first 7 volumes, so they swim a lot.

I dig the manga. Even though there are pacing problems and some basic art, Ishinomori made some wonderful illustrations and had a wonderful line quality to his work. Oh and the overall story kicked butt of course.
