Hi there!Yet another "against-the-light" matte painting.
I want to show off a post apocalyptic destroyed cityscape, maybe after a war.
It's done with Photoshop CS and After Effects.
I kept the buildings in several layers and added fog in between.
Finally I rendered a camera pullback in After Effects with a previous version of the matte.
Please use "save target as ...", since I haven't optimised the clips for streaming:

the only crit I can think of: the lights on some of the buildings...it does help to keep the colors and image as a whole less redundant, however if a city were to be destroyed to this magnitude, you have to ask yourself...would there still be electricity to power these lights?

Ohhhh the detail level on this is amazing, great stuff and a pure +fav for me, btw this is the kind of stuff the fullviewcrew is looking for, a club thatΒ΄s devoted for full viewing just to not skip out on the details, if you feel like this is something you are into please drop by and and visit us, other than that i cant stop looking at this masterpiece, wonderful, how long time did it take to do this? The colours in it is just perfect btw, the way the light sun shines thru the dark clouds of dust just gives a tiny little bit of hope that itΒ΄s not to late to change before itΒ΄s all over

This is an amazing piece of work. Excellent attention to detail, and a riveting atmosphere - really has an epic and cinematic feel. True quality art.

That illustration is simply incredible, your whole gallery is. It shows you have an incredible talent and that you should try to apply for a job in computer gaming or television/motion pictures for background work.
That animated version of the background is incredible, I wasn't aware of the potential for Adobe After Effects, I've used Premier and Photoshop but didn't know if it was worth investigating further on.
Simply fantastic.
Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to create the detailed version in Photoshop?

Well, I agree with those other people; this is great.
It really looks like there has been a war.
Btw, during world war 2 americans bombarded Tokyo and burned the city to the ground- literally. There are very few buildings left today from the original Tokyo. And of course they dropped atomic bombs to Hiroshima and Nagasaki in a successful attempt to kill as many civilians as possible so that the japanese would have to surrender. Yes, war is always horrible. And it's usually the innocent who suffer the most. But this has nothing to do with the picture..
