Hi there!This is a concept painting I did for a CD Cover of Jillian Goldin's (www.jilliangoldin.com: [link] ) upcoming Christmas Album.
Therefore this panoramic view. I tried to mix Sand and Snow together (which is the topic of the album) and to achieve the same mood of her songs (listened to them while painting).
A few hours in Photoshop CS2 and CS4.
I think I redid the concept at least 3 times, since I wasn't sure about the colors and composition at the beginning

I like the way she splits the picture. On her left side I see darkness, the storm's power, it looks dangerous and powerful. On her right side the picture is illuminated, calm, and peaceful. And then, between these two very different sides of the picture, there is this woman that walks in perfect balance between these two counterparts, while the breeze behind her builds syntheses of both sides. A Woman who finds a balance between the raw power of her strong yet dangerous emotions and the wisdom peace and kindness she also has inside her. That's my Interpretation of this nice work.

too gloomy in an ugly way, be better if she was looking over a vast gloomy gray desert like place with no trees, just a few rocks and scrub, with a ruined city in the distance and in the center, but not taking up the whole left to right, so that it looks isolated and sad, and no clouds, just gray gloom with no so much blue to no blue
