Description Ultra Fractal
© 2010 Janet Parke

My 3-part series of Ultra Fractal courses is now available as e-books. The first is an exploration of the Mandelbrot and Julia sets that teaches a systematic approach to learning new formulas. Also included are some layering techniques!

The second course is an in-depth examination of techniques for using masking to create borders, panels, variated coloring, controlled texturing, and other subtle effects.

Part three is Ultra Fractal Artistry, which is the first published treatise of how the basic principles of fine art apply to fractal art. Although it's part of a series on the Ultra Fractal software, most of it could easily be applied to work created by artists using Apo, XD and other fractal generators.

The e-books are simple .exe files (Windows platform) that require no extra soft- or hardware. They're available separately or in combination.

Please contact me or click here for more info on the courses.

I don't know anything about the technique, but this really does an incredible job of intimating the original piece (Michaelangelo's) without losing its own unique perspective. Beautiful.

Thank you! I actually didn't start out to reference "The Creation of David" (or any other work or preconceived idea). It wasn't until after I was finished tweaking the colors, shapes, and textures, that I realized it reminded me of something.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the thumbnail was the Creation of Adam! It's amazing how just the suggestion of the shapes and lighting can so easily bring the same thing to mind for everyone. This is awesome.

infinite-art In reply to news-from-bree [2010-12-26 23:11:33 +0000 UTC]

It's particularly fascinating to me when I compare my image with the original and see that there are relatively few elements in common. I'm still pretty amazed that so many of us get the same thing from the fractal! Thanks for commenting!

Wow! I looked down at the DD footer and saw this and immediately thought of The Creation of Adam. You've done an incredible job and I was just floored to learn it's fractal art! Aptly named, and utterly deserving of this DD. Congratulations!

It sounds weird, but when I saw this, the first thing I thought of was "The Creation of Adam" by Michelangelo A really surreal take, though
