Heart of The Cards...

Chapter One...

'Gods...M-my head...pounding...'

'I can't...where am I...?'

Hazy (e/c) orbs struggled to peer past the bright, insistent light that assaulted them. A hand came up instinctively to shield them, but it did little to sway the persistent beams of light. Eventually, the eyes slipped closed once again and a pained groan swept passed a pair of uncomfortably chapped lips.

'Why...? I don't...remember...'

You roll to your side, turning your back to face the light. A dry cough rumbled in your chest and you wet your lips, cringing slightly at the taste of dirt. After a few more moments of trying to gather your bearings, you attempt to sit up. Your back and shoulders creak miserably at the action. You push yourself up into a sitting position, resting back against one palm, while the other busied itself by rubbing your sore eyes.

Your eyelids parted slightly as you brought your hand up further to caress your pounding head. Why did it hurt so bad? You must have hit it pretty badly...

But on what? You hadn't been doing anything hazardous, had you? The last thing you remembered was a strange light and a loud, echoing voice. Then...nothing.

Your (e/c) orbs traveled downward. You were clad in a pair of jeans and your favourite (f/c) hoodie. You noted, with a hint of disdain, that you were covered with dirt and grime. Your shoes were nearly completely brown and your jeans had been torn just above the knee. Your hoodie had splotches of dirt caked onto it and your face was surely in the same condition. Your (h/l) (h/c) hair was disheveled.

You quirked your lip, turning your eyes to your right. There in the dirt was your (Second f/c) string back pack. You quickly reach for it and open it up. Inside, you find your I.D.

"(First Name) (Last Name). (Age), (Sex)." You read aloud, tracing your thumb over the plastic card. After placing the card down next to you, you peer back into your bag. There are a few more items inside. A blanket, a square holster, a pair of glasses and...two very strange looking cards. Your eyebrows lift as you take the cards out to further examine them.

Needless to say...these cards were not the normal, everyday cards.

Printed upon the first was a picture of what looked to be a man dressed in purple robes. He held a long green staff in one hand while the other gripped the hem of his hat. Your eyes narrowed as they read over the text written on the card.

"DARK MAGICIAN: [Spellcaster] The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defence."

The second card was even stranger. This one was blue, and the picture printed upon it frightened you. Another man, only, this one had blue skin and long black hair. His arms were folded over his chest and his face was set straight.

"MAGICIAN OF BLACK CHAOS: [Spellcaster] This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card: Black Magic Ritual."

You stared at the two cards, your eyes darting back and forth between them. You were barely given any time to think, when a swell of pain throbbed through your skull. You gasped, dropping the strange cards, allowing them to flutter the short distance to the ground. Your hands gripped your head and you panted harshly.

"Wh-why...does my head--...?" You began, your voice cracking. You stopped abruptly however and your eyes widened. Your vision went black for a split second, and in the next moment, you found yourself standing atop a tall building. In front of you were the two men upon the cards: the "Dark Magician" and the "Magician of Black Chaos".

Beyond the two of them were creatures you'd never seen before. One massive, slithering thing with what looked to be-- for all the world two mouths. Another behemoth with fierce red eyes and fists that could smash through life itself. And finally one shining, golden beast with wide spread wings.

Before you could take in the astounding sight before your eyes, the world began to fade once again and you found yourself right back where you started; sitting in the dirt with the two strange cards lying beside you.

"Wh-what was that?!" You cried to no one in particular. "What did I just see?!"

Of course, you received no answer. Your wide (e/c) eyes trailed upward and you finally took in your surroundings.

You were surrounded by trees and grass. A forest. You looked around for a while longer before looking back down.

You were thoroughly confused. For some strange reason, you'd ended up in a forest. And even stranger, you had no idea how or why you ended up here in the first place. And all you had were a few simple items and two very odd cards. Not to mention a splitting headache.

And the odd vision you'd seen...what was all this about?

"Well..." You said with a sigh, reaching down to pick up your I.D card and place it back in your back. "I won't find any answers by sitting in the woods. Better try and find a way outta here."

You closed your back and slipped it onto your shoulders. Then, with only a little bit of trouble, you stood to your feet. You stretched, your bones creaking loudly. You decided to head straight ahead, since the trees didn't seem to grow any thicker in that direction.

But before you headed off, you found yourself bending down and picking up the two strange cards. You eyed them once before sticking them in your back pocket. You shrugged.

"No sense in leaving them behind." You reasoned.

And with that, you set off.
