I took this one with the Panasonic DMC-FZ8, a superzoom. Β I have since moved up to a DSLR but the Panasonic always took great, detailed photos. Β

Considering his iris is tiny and he didn't react to me in the slightest, I think he was totally asleep in the sunshine.

He probably was, it's just when I saw the picture when I was browsing I thought whoever took the picture was either really lucky or had an extremely special camera to get close up. Then I saw it was from a zoo, but it's still such an amazing photo

I very much prefer field herping (which sounds like a horrible disease), but when in school in Southern California, the opportunities do not present themselves as often as I would like.
This one [link] is a wild rattlesnake, as are several more in my gallery. I've been trained in handling venomous snakes and can get a little closer to them than I would suggest others should.

Yes "fiels herping" does sound terrible, but I get what you mean and I think that is very cool. And if it's snakes you like, or any reptile then you should visit Texas (where I live) and even though I live in a small town I still see lots of wild life and, most of which are snakes.
The largest I've seen was a five foot rat snakes and a four foot cotton mouth. I've seen more snakes, like coral snakes and most of the others have been harmless snakes, like Texas brown snakes and racers. And I've gotten a little too close then I prefer to half those snakes. But I'm not afraid of them.
